I bought a Dell T110 ii with 32Gb of memory as a server to play with at home. Got it used for 120 euros.

That should keep me out of trouble for a while. Its a toy of sorts I guess.

@Rancid-Schnitzel geez I'd hate to see what is big then, that and Archie have absolutely dominated morning television. More so than in Britain I reckon.

The last two times I got into a fight it was because I got involved. First time was a no brainer as 3 guys were indulging in a bit of paki bashing in London.

Second one with hindsight maybe I could/should have kept quiet. Some bitch was being outrageously racist in a pub I told her she was a fucking disgrace. She and her mates took exception.

I would now definitely go with the call the cops route. Unless not stepping in was potentially going to result in someone getting badly hurt. Thing is I'm an old bastard now so stepping in is a) more than likely going to be ineffective
    b) end up in me being the one getting badly hurt

@Kruse Have been as far east as Mt Ararat in Turkey, most of the roads are pretty good in Turkey (oops that was 29 years ago) we were advised to turn around as Saddam Hussain had decided to invade Kuwait. If you are going up through the "stans" and into Mongolia I believe roads there also pretty good and no traffic!

Yeah - going through the "stans", but not Mongolia (at least - not on the way).
So far - UK, France, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey
The route from here on in - Georgia, Azerbaijan, ferry across Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, then down into China via Xinjian, Tibet, then up to Beijing.
After that - I'm seriously considering going on to Mongolia, to hire one of the little local 150cc bikes there for a few weeks. Help kill some time before heading to Japan to watch some rugby.

We were sitting at dinner discussing the screen time thing, as one of the kids informed us her friends don't have a TV in their house, and no devices except the parents' phones which are used for communication and not much else.

Mrs TA pipes up with "And that is probably a good thing, as you kids spend too much time in front of a screen"

I paused, and mentioned an article pointing to research that showed the best way to get kids off their screens was for the parents to spend less time on them as well. Icy silence from the woman who falls asleep to rubbish TV on her iPad at night. 😉

My boys both got Chromebooks for Xmas from myself and ex wife and her hubby....personally I thought it was a slightly over the top present but I didn't want to be the "stink" dad so I went along with it.

Yet despite all this my oldest still insists on grabbing mine and seeing how far back it will bend ?

Fucken moron, if he breaks that then I can't work and afford to pay his Mum child support then he'll have to sell his PS4, PS2 and everything else just to make ends meet.

Should maybe transfer this to the Blokes Advice thread, but I was wondering what the deal was with child support if one parent remarried. I assume the parent paying child support has to continue to do so regardless of the other parent's financial circumstances with the new spouse?

Not sure the ins and outs. Apparently if I was an arsehole ( despite what you fluffybunnies think I'm actually a decent bloke alot of the time ) I could argue that cos my exes hubby earns like he does then I technically don't have to pay a thing, well for starters I'd never do this and I know what I do pay helps out and I'll continue to do so til the boys are 18 ( maybe after that depending on how they're doing in life ).

I casually mentioned that I didnt have to pay in a joking manner and the ex still tore fucken strips off me hahaha !

Wellington is a horrible mix of cold windy weather, bogans, steep hills with massive earthquake risks, politicians, civil servants, hipsters and worst of all...people who say you cant beat Wellington on a good day.. blerg

There's no bogans here, you're thinking of the Hutt and everyone knows that's not part of Wellington.

yea, you can't just cut out the bits you don't like, otherwise you're not a city, just a small provincial town

It's still the capital of the Nation you're so proud of but don't live in though.

A capital is just a shithole that other people stick polticians and civil servants so normal people dont have to deal with them on a regular basis. Otawa, Canberra... Wellington

I've heard some bullshit on the fern in my time but you referring to yourself like this surely takes the cake.

They are indeed good fun. Used them a bit around town and coming home from bars in takapuna. Around the viaduct in the mornings is a good blat. The odd time I've caught the bus to work, I've opted to jump off early and then go by lime.

Not sure why the $10 only gave you $6.88 or so credit. Dont think mine did that first time

Michael Jackson's famous white glove sold for $350,000 at a memorabilia auction on Saturday, soaring far past pre-sale estimates, while a black jacket he wore during a 1989 world tour fetched $225,000.

$350K for only one glove? And that with a slightly soiled index finger? Ridiculous!

The only good thing about the conviction taking so long is that it means he will likely die in jail.

Andrew Little is probably trying to commute his sentence as we speak though.

@Nepia That optiontown site is pretty interesting - thanks!

I've flown on Malaysian Airlines several times since their crashes - I figured they're bound to be meticulous in their safety - however, if their ground staff service is anything to go by, this assumption might be mistaken.

Haven't been on a flight that has been close to full and they've been significantly cheaper out of Auckland than other options to Asia.
