Power cleans
You should definitely jump or at least attempt to jump on your power clean.
The video you posted ACT is pretty good but while they dont actually say so, it kind of implies that the bar is pulled to the scarecrow position with the arms. There shouldnt be any pulling with the arms in the clean.
Must be our new years resolutions cos I ripped out a few cleans in the garage last night as well ! Did a rep of 102.5kg which I'm pretty fucken pleased with cos I haven't done them in ages ( literally months ) but I feel it might be the deadlift training having some sort of "spillover effect" cos I've never quite managed that much before. I probably do lift with the arms too much when doing them so may video myself next time to check form which I'm sure is horrible to look at. Red Beard tells me Owen Franks can do 140-150kg so a wee way to go yet ! -
Bastard! I did exactly the same yesterday, and set myself a new record at 95kg. I thought surely i would have the biggest clean on the fern!

I'm off for a deadlift session shortly so that should be a good warm up for a run at 100kg maybe, i felt like i could do a little more last night. -

Judging from some of the squats, benches etc I've seen here over the years I'd assume a couple have us licked dude ! If it's any consolation the 102.5 felt a bit shaky and wobbly and like I said the form may be a bit iffy to say the least. Perhaps it is a bit of a mental thing because the more you deadlift the lighter the bar feels as you do that initial pull. Perhaps the rest ( about 3 or 4 months since I last did em ) did me a world of good, great discipline from me because as I have my weights set up in the garage it's often tempting to do some kind of lift when I'm out playing darts or dumping more crap in there ! -
Tongue in cheek about having the biggest clean but i didnt expect to have my thunder stolen quite so quickly!

And while i was crying about you beating me i forgot to mention great job on the 102.5! I lifted that for my first warm up set at deadlift this morning and it took the wind out of my sails to try a new record clean. Theres no way i was gonna get that weight to my shoulders! -
Have been lifting tin in the Castres Olympique rugby club gym in France and one of their fitness trainers has been teaching me the snatch. Great movement, quite technical to learn. Both feet leave the ground! Also he tried to teach me Jerk but its no good for my neck..... quite sore around C5-7 12 hours later.
lol. so it must just be when you are lifting the insane weights that you don't manage the leap - like the olympics etc, which is pretty much the only place we plebs get to watch the sport!
In the snatch, clean and jerk the trainer (in broken English) has really stressed the point of leaving the ground and shrugging as high as poss on the ascent and stamping on the floor in quater squat position upon landing. -

Yeah I don't think I "shrug" so much as pull hard so basically I'm doing a few things wrong. There is a good powerlifting Gym just down the road from me so maybe I'll pop in for some tips.
