Broom and Anderson are just plain stupid, and Taylor has to take a lot of the blame as well for slowing things down when Kane had some nice momentum going. When you are well behind in the game, you don't bloody fluff around and show no urgency whatsoever. I commend Sangakara for giving it to the NZ batsmen today and was a breath of fresh air compared to the cheerleaders that we have in our commentary teams.
Hope the Aussies go through as these clowns certainly don't deserve a place in the semis.

There's "potential" in the order from 5-11 but they've scored no runs in 2 games when the groundwork has been laid for them. Neesham and Anderson are basically the same player and neither of them seems to be good enough to keep the scoreboard ticking and pick off boundaries - once they are "in", their default action is to try to hit a 6 every ball. It will come off once in a while - but not often.
Broom isn't good enough at this level, nor is Ronchi. Taylor has been too slow in both games and then got out when it was time to start accelerating. Kane has made 100 and 87 and not much below a run and a ball overall and he isn't going to succeed every time.
-
To make matters worse:
New Zealand have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate as they were ruled two overs short of the target when time allowances were considered by match referee Andy Pycroft. Captain Kane Williamson accepted a fine of 40% of his match fee, while his players received a fine of 20%.

That's a pretty disappointing result overall. I was a little surprised to see us bowl first - I think in the modern game batting first and setting a par score of around 290-300 is the way to go as that allows you to at least try and build some scoreboard pressure in the 2nd innings, even if the ball is not doing much.
Agree with @KiwiPie's summary. We are very reliant on our top 4 scoring the bulk of the runs as we don't seem to get much more then 5-10 runs out of each of our middle-lower order. Annoying that Guppy has got two starts but hasn't gone on with it.
Now we need to beat 7 shades of shit out of Bangladesh to get ahead of Aus who will probably beat England now that England are already through.

@Bovidae The rest of the team should pay his fine as he's carrying a few of them
How many more of these fines does he need to cop before he's faced with a ban?
That's something I hope they are concerned about. -
@KiwiPie At last Neesham showed intent. I think that's all we can hope for, some intent, urgency and the correct reading of the match situation. Taylor doesn't seem to change his style no matter what the match situation is and should have done better as the senior pro. Broom and Anderson need to go.
Feel so sorry for KW and even Guptill. These two are the only batsmen who understand how to bat.

@akan004 Taylor plays an important role in anchoring the innings and ensuring we don't lose too many early wickets. His problem at the moment is he only has two gears - conservative and all out slog. And when he switches he gets himself out to a poor shot. Kane is awesome as he cranks up the gears as the game wears on and by the final overs is going all out. We need that from Taylor as well.

Seems like our batting all reverted to (recent) type in this game. Aside from Guppy - if he'd scored another 20 runs, it would have been a perfect illustration.
Rossco seems to be struggling a bit. He's still scoring some runs, but he's struggling to maintain a decent strike rate and that was the case in most of the Ireland-Bangles series, where he was pretty slow early until he was well set.
The Broom, Neesham, Anderson, Santner axis failed again. Neesham, Anderson and Santner have collectively done very little with the bat all tour. Broom is no Grant Elliott, which I hoped he might be after he got those three good scores in a row (i.e. have a real purple patch in the autumn of his career)..
However, the die is cast, I think. For the Bangles, we could bring in Tom Latham for Ronchi, which would increase the probability of us winning that game - but, I think, reduce the probability of us winning the tournament - for which our best chance is having Ronchi flounder a couple of fast starts and Guppy and Kane together make some big scores - with a little bit of help lower down.
All-in-all, we don't really have the quality to win. Given that the next batting cab off the rank is probably Colin Munro, I'm not optimistic that we've got the replacements for Ronchi, Broom and Rossco coming through and we will need them sooner rather than later.

If Oz beat England, we're gone. We just need to beat Bangladesh and hope England beat Oz.
If, however, the Oz-England game is rained out - we need to beat the Bangles by more than England beat us to get ahead of the Australians' net runrate of 0!

Same batting coach, same thin middle order, same results...
On the other hand - he's worked wonders with Kane! He just needs to do the same thing with all the others!

@Chris-B Ahh, yeah, Aus have two draws to our one draw and one loss. My bad. Comon England!!
