The Sky TV share price to take another hammering perhaps!

It is the production element that will be interesting. TVNZ will have to invest in a new OB production arm and pick up all the techs currently working for Sky.
It may mean no more Justin Marshall though. The OB will be provided by the Japanese host broadcaster, surely?
In a more general sense, I'd hazard a guess the only 2 NZ media companies with any OB capabilities these days are Sky and Trackside. Actually, Maori TV broadcast Auckland club League.
Although it may be that the OB are independent contractors? Smudge would know that sort of shit.

It's been a few years since I've been in the industry. But the guts of the presentation will be from the host broadcaster. However, if TVNZ or Sky will be setting up talking head panels on/near the ground or someone for post-match IVs etc, they'll need an OB set-up to funnel that feed into its main feed heading back to NZ. I imagine they'll send over a few techies and other production staff, but would hire the OB units from a Japanese production company.
