@nepia oh shit, never, ever watch the sequel! It's appallingly bad. So bad.
Stone has some ordinary movies.
Ever seen Alexander? Holy shit that is bad.
That's one of the better reviews I've seen for that movie.

Did a bit of flying and caught up with some movies.
Black Panther - I enjoyed it but glad I was pre-aware that it had been massively overhyped. 3.5 ethno-states out of 5.
3 Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri - Gripping but it seemed a little far fetched which kind of tempered my enjoyment for some reason..you know for a movie that was kinda realistic rather than a straight up fantasy. 3.5 midget dates outta 5.
Avengers (new one..) - Waaaay better than the last Avengers, time seemed to fly by. 4 outta 5 infinity stones.
I also re-watched 'Fight Club' which I hadn't seen in a number of years. I was a little nervous about doing it as a number of older movies haven't lived up to my memories of late. Well I needn't have been. Solid 5 punches in the ear outta 5. Easily my favourite movie of all time.
I reckon Fight Club is one of THE most overrated movies of our times. It's ok but no more than that.
@mariner4life @Bones anyone of you want first crack at this?
I’m not sure where to begin..Leave @MN5 alone Virgil! We know he is a bit too dim to 'get it'
We can't all be accountants I guess
Actually everyone can, not a high bar

I'm watching Atomic Blonde
It's not bad.
And then Charlize lezzed out with the sexy French chick and it's now fucking awesome.
-
@bovidae I’m a fan of the MI movies. Only one I can’t stand is the second one that is shot in OZ. Shocking acting by the bad guys.
The latest flick has a decent plot and the connection with the previous movie was a nice touch.

M:I II is your typical John Woo action movie but is considered the weakest of the franchise. Thandie Newton is oh so fine though.
I liked that they also referenced the original MI in Fallout as well.
:::
The White Widow says she is Max's daughter.

Trouble with John Woo is he comes up with the stunt and actions sequences first then builds the story to fit around it. Why his films were generally pretty shit
MI 2 was that the one where they kept pulling their faces off? -

Even without the boobs and hot lezzo action, this was a pretty tidy little action spy flick. It's fucking violent too which is fine by me.

@mn5
The movie is one of my greatest guilty plesasures. If I stumble across it on tv I’ll stay ‘til the end. (Lots of great debuts in the film too, but whatever happened to the ticket scalper?)Dazed & Confused is the same. I love the American high school movie genre.

Speaking boobs and violence is Strike Back season 6 out on NZ tv?

The Humanity Bureau! Featuring Nic Cage.
Please take the time to watch this! It is incredibly bad. I’m half way through and can’t stop as I have to see how they end this!
0 radioactive carrots out of 5 undricnkable ice cubes
Sorry to quote myself but please PLEASE watch this movie. I don't want to the only person on this planet that has done so!
For fuck's sake, I had to watch this to see what you were talking about.
30 seconds in - they pretty much show their hand with the atrocious quality of the green-screening.
And the rest of it... just, what the fuck. Absolutely no redeeming features.
0 wooden Nic Cage faces in front of 5 green-screen-sitting-in-cars.
Fuck you @Hooroo , just... fuck you. (smiley face wink whatever) -

@hooroo I watched it for the first time and just don't get the love for it. I think it had been so hyped I was expecting something that expanded the boundaries of the genre a bit more. It's no Deadpool in that regard
Yeah there were some amusing moments - but that's all I found them a bit of a smile rather than a guffaw.
I found it incredibly formulaic and more than a bit meh
Each to their own I guess

Both the Deadpools are great, but, are you sure you didn't stumble on to Thor 2 by accident.
Anyway, watched Superfly last night (cheap movies for the month of August means there's no quality control). Interesting 'drug dealer/gangsta' movie remake of the 70s blaxploitation movie.
Kind of not good, but not bad, but not good. Had some ok action scenes and the cast included Omar. The lead seemed too young for the role (I'd never seen him before) and when
@jegga There's boobies and @Mokey a lesbian scene and there's some car scenes for the car porn people out there.
Wouldn't recommend that anyone pay money for it but it wasn't the worst 2 hours I've ever had in my life.

Saw Gone Girl the other night. As much as I dislike Assflick he was very good in this, entertaining watch with an interesting twist at the end. Probably one of those movies where the book can capture the story a bit better, but enjoyed it overall. 4 cheating husbands out of 5 psychotic wives.
-
@no-quarter I really enjoyed that movie. Sweet Rosamund Pike deserved awards for her bonkers soulless housewife role, and Ben Affleck and Neil Patrick Harris were good also. It's good storytelling when you keep changing sides as to what happened.
-
Black Swan. Actually quite enjoyed this. Natalie Portman certainly deserved that Oscar.
