@jegga You can add a second minister to the list now: Treasury Board president Jane Philpott, considered a star minister, said in a resignation letter that it was “untenable” for her to continue in the cabinet because she could not defend the government.

That’s the one I mentioned, massive respect for her and the attorney general for showing so much integrity.

Grab your popcorn, the first minister has resigned over this .Effectively says she can’t support Trudeau anymore in her statement. Between this and the Canadian economy flagging it could be the end of the Trudeau government.
Trump must be loving this. Macron & Treudeu both virtue signalling piston wristed gibbons who keep trying to put the boot into him and all the while their governments (and countries) are collapsing around them.

It’s not going to be as funny for us when Ardern is next and she drags us down with her. In the meantime I’m enjoying this.

Australia has a right wing government that has been happy to placate and fallate the US and has pretty much lost the entire centrist faction of the Coalition in a single term.
Self preservation is simply a function of the Westminster system and thank god for that. Say what you want about the Canadian Libs but at least they have the spine (or foresight) to eject early and play the long game, unlike many of the US republicans which just lined up behind Trump despite massive personal misgivings.

Credit where credit is due regarding politicians that act on principle, very rare. I would disagree regarding some of the Republicans, many have been making things very difficult for him as he isn't exactly the establishment Republican type. A number have however seen his big wins and just how popular he has become. Whether they have seen the light or know that the writing is on the wall for them if they don't buck up their ideas, who knows? - Anyway thats probably more for the US politics thread.
I went to a feminist (well more accurately man-hating-victimhood-addicted-radical-feminist) event about 18 months ago, I distinctly remember one of the speakers mentioning Trudeau as like the perfect leader and the whole crowd cheered. That memory is going to keep me smiling if he falls as expected.

Yeah nah. Comparing Trudeaus real issues with the baseless accusations against Trump is an amazing false equivalence. Trudeau has been exposed with little effort. Nothing of any substance has been found against Trump despite ab FBI investigation (complete with with dishonest agents), a indepent counsel (appointed based on fraudelent dossier), a biased hostile media and a far left radical political opposition.

Apparently a poll says 51% think the Canuck cuck should resign and they are 9% behind too

No wonder ministers have been resigning......
The recording shows Trudeau aide Michael Wernick telling the Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould that Trudeau “is determined, quite firm,” in finding a way to avoid a prosecution that could put 9,000 jobs at risk.
It also shows Wilson-Raybould, who was also attorney general, saying she regards the pressure as “inappropriate.”
[…] Wilson-Raybould was demoted from her role as attorney general and justice minister in January as part of a Cabinet shuffle by Trudeau. She has testified that she believes she lost the justice job because she did not give in to “sustained” pressure to instruct the director of public prosecutions to negotiate a remediation agreement with SNC-Lavalin.
Wilson-Raybould said in a written submission that she took the “extraordinary and otherwise inappropriate step” of secretly recording a phone call with the country’s top public servant in December because she feared the conversation would cross ethical lines and she wanted an exact account.
“This is something that I have never done before this phone call and have not done since,” she wrote
Trudeau is denying any knowledge of the phone call.

@jegga Early onset dementia? This is why you can't have leaders of countries at his age and ill-health.
I wonder if he’s on meds like Xanax or something? The stress of the CNC lavalin scandal and wondering if his dad was Fidel Castro or Bill Wyman would take its toll ,

Damn.
If Trump had done that it would have been front page news and apparently caused irreparable damage to a vital alliance.
