Terrible news.
Thoughts go out to all involved and those living through this.
That Aussie fluffybunny should be fired pronto.

@SynicBast not a moment I expect she ever thought she would have to be in, addressing our nation after such a tragedy, but to do so with empathy, respect while also giving the middle finger to people like this takes some skill and class.

Unfortunately, I've seen the video this afternoon. It appeared on my timeline and it played automatically. I've blocked that f*cking news channel. I wish I could un-see what I have seen. The stuff you don't even see in movies. Coward bastards, shooting people in the back or lying on the floor. These terrorists deserve to be skinned alive.
Does anyone know a way of getting images like that out of your head? The wife suggested watching a movie; not sure that's going to help. F*ck.

If you have kids, just hold them. If no kids, but you have a cat or a dog, cuddle them. Basically focus as much on mundane things that make you feel good.
That's how I've gotten through today so far. That and staying in contact with Kiwis online. This place was a lifeline of sanity. I may disagree politically with many here, buyt when it comes down to it, we're all kiwis (except NTA and he gets honorary status anyway)

Having 'seen the elephant' as the phrase goes having a bender with you mates in always a good one. But def short term, thats just to focus on a bit of good and fun, we traditionally used to burn a piano when a plane went in - paying it whilst on fire etc. But you gotta look beyond that, cos that is not going to help forever, do not be afraid to talk to professionals. That shit can grow in your head - focus on the awesome you have, be thankful for your life, and embrace every good social/familial/animal contact you have!

I read this at the time, FFS law is an arse -
@Stargazer bro, take care. Different things work for different people.
I haven’t seen the video, but when there has been difficult times I’ve gone to the gym, played some basketball, gone for a run or bike ride. Expend a bit of energy it may help you sleep. One day at a time bro.
-
@Stargazer what the others have said, whatever it takes to flick away from dwelling on it. Knacker yourself (and maybe the missus) before sleep. And if sleep isnt coming maybe a book or something to keep you occupied till you pass out. Or as Dr Jegga noted get hella juiced and live post some shit talk with your fern crew!
But def talk to someone if there's even a hint of feeling the need. -
I've been avoiding this thing for a few hours and just got my update here.
49!
There are no words. -
Been on the phone all morning trying to make sure everyone is safe. I only know one Muslim back home. Lets be honest its Christchurch after all. He is safe.
Spoke to my mum who works in the hospital she says they will be doing what they can. But there are only twelve operating theatres in the hospital and she doubts many surgeons have any experience with gunshot wounds. But everyone is just rolling their sleeves up and doing what they can to save as many as they can. I know we think of those surgeon guys as porsche driving flash harrys. But on days like this those guys step up.
Personally I am just angry. You want a war, go to Syria you fuckwad. There is more then enough people for you to go toe to toe with. You won't do that though because you are all chickenshit cowards.
I hope these losers names are wiped from existence. I hope the guy who tried to take him down unarmed is hailed as a hero to all Cantabs for all time, his name should never go away.
Finally as I have said on here before, I work with a big group of Muslim guys. They have all come to see me in the office this morning to say they will be praying for everyone in Christchurch today. Paris is with you today! All be it a small part of a shitty suburb in Paris.
Fucked if I feel like talking about sport now.

I saw the video in my twitter feed thanks to the autoplay setting on my phone and it was horrifying. There is no punishment great enough for the sack of shit and his cohorts for the amount of suffering inflicted today on innocent people. Latest toll is 49, but that could easily increase as people succumb to injuries.
I'm really struggling with the 'how could anyone be so evil' aspect. I also hope it doesn't turn into a mental health easy out for the why. There is enough stigma against those who live with a variety of conditions and would never dream of hurting another person without every heinous act being blamed on it. Some people are easily swayed, easily turned. Or just plain fucking awful.

Wouldn't it be great if our media never named him and he was never referred to by name by the authorites and he just ended up being an anonymous hateful loser who was going to spend the rest of his life in jail and be forgotten ?
Media will want a name so they can find the family member, neighbour, school teacher to interview.
-
@ACT-Crusader already talk of media heading to northern NSW town which is apparently part of his history

Yeah saw the video at work while we were in lockdown. Didn't really want to see but was hard not to when most people around me were playing it. I run virtually past the Linwood mosque every day so it's a bit close to home for me but yeah, no words can describe this tragedy. It hurts more and more now that it has fully sunk in.
