Had my first experience on one of these this weekend gone. Was early on Sunday morning and we were at a hotel on the wharf and I wanted to go to Britomart for morning treats (It was about 7-30am)
Easy to download and get going and found a scooter near hotel. Took me a minute to work out you don't push and hold accelerator at same time, you do so sequentially.
With no one about at that time of the morning, it was soooooo much fun.
Where are they apart from Auckland? Has Wellybops and CHCH got them yet?

You couldn't manage the 5 minute walk from Princes Wharf to Britomart? Must have been a good Saturday...
They are in Lower Hutt but not the rest of Wellington - Christchurch CBD and Dunedin.
I don't know if it is princes wharf but the trip was 1.7 k round trip and yes Saturday was huge. Racing with French Martinis/Beers/Wine, so I was in no mood to beat the feet.
I will also say that the Auckland Fish Market is currently my fav place to have a quick bite to eat and a cold beer. Went there sat and sun, Sunday was mainly to grab some fresh fish to take home.

@Hooroo The market is OK. The makeover is good but not a place I'd choose to linger. I was there Saturday as well to scoff oysters but I walked
We could have well been there at the same time! The fresh bluffies are amazing having been freshly shucked in front of ya.
I agree, it is for a quick bite to eat and a beer. Not for a big session with friends/family

@Hooroo How much was the trip, I saw the pricing for the new company that's starting in Welly and they seemed pretty expensive.
I only loaded $10 and it gave my $6:88 credit (which I assume is because of the FX rate and they operate in USD?)
The 1.7k trip cost US$4 but I put the scooter on hold (which you pay for) as I went to two different cafes so total time with scooter 20mins. (I think you pay buy the minute)
I think I have heard it works out to be about $20/hour

Yes, Getting different things from separate cafes. Savoury from one and sweet from another

They are indeed good fun. Used them a bit around town and coming home from bars in takapuna. Around the viaduct in the mornings is a good blat. The odd time I've caught the bus to work, I've opted to jump off early and then go by lime.
Not sure why the $10 only gave you $6.88 or so credit. Dont think mine did that first time
