@MN5 I think it’s after the Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens.
Dunno about that, the Empire still look pretty strong and functional.
I’m assuming the lead guy shows all the skills that Boba Fett never showed ( but his old man did ) in the movies. I hope he has a jet pack at some stage.

"Favreau said on Instagram that the show would be set “after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.”"
The Empire didn't go away all at once, there were more battles and then they morphed into the First order.

I thought the Mandalorians had died out much like the Jedi ?
Who took over the Empire with their two Sith lords gone ? I guess all will be revealed......

@MN5 If they go for the old extended universe stuff, then weren't the regional governors in charge of areas of the galaxy> And the New Repuplic had to clean them out
Righto, I suppose there were any number of Moffs around throwing their weight around.
It looks to have a real Rogue One type feel to it. I'm loving the look of that. Already some nice touches, main one being the talking eye droid thing which Jabba had at his palace ( did one of his gang take over after he died ? ) also creepy horn man from the Mos Eisley Cantina ( same guy or same race, not sure )
I suspect there'll be Easter Eggs a plenty.
Also as good a time as any to point out Solo gets weaker with each viewing. Not really a hell of a lot going for it by Star Wars standards.

Really looking forward to this since hearing the first whispers.
Certainly from the dribs and drabs that have made it's way onto the interweb, it looks to be Star Wars done right.
Great cast as well including one of my favourite character actors Giancarlo Esposito.
Even cooler, from the Wiki page for this, Taika Waititi will direct an episode... FUCK YEAH!

It's funny, ten or so years ago the thought of a Star Wars TV series woulda given me the absolute shits.
Not now though, If anything the success of GOT has shown what is capable if it is done right ( and todays surround sound and big screens obviously helps massively too )
Colour me excited.

Same, but I think the best acting/story telling is being done on TV these days. Less compromises.

Quite right.
I'll always have a soft spot for any number of 80s action shows but shit some of them look amateurish by todays standards.
This Mandalorian fella might end up in Star Wars character folklore.......

The suit looks so much better than we got for Jango Fett as well.
Probably won’t get the Shortland Street accent either...
No cultural cringe here, if you can have american and british accents far, far away, you can have kiwi too.
