@taniwharugby maybe the same version as this.
Whosoever ... hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookback, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken ... He shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries. Leviticus 21:17-23

Like all good Christians, they take the bits they like and conveniently forget the rest.
The key word is "Interpretation", Folau interpreted a Ferrari on sale as a sign from God he needed to up it to 14 Million.

Blessed are the rich, for they shall own nothing.
If they're smart, they'll lease the fuck out of everything and modify their taxable status to suit.

My sister lives in Oz and she uses the whole leasing perks thing. Sadly our tax system doesn't have the same benefits I don't think

Joint statement by Rugby Australia, NSW Rugby and Israel Folau
Rugby Australia, NSW Rugby and Israel Folau have today settled their legal dispute following the dismissal of Israel Folau after he posted a religious message on social media (the Social Media Post). The Social Media Post reflected Mr Folau’s genuinely held religious beliefs, and Mr Folau did not intend to harm or offend any person when he uploaded the Social Media Post. Mr Folau wants all Australians to know that he does not condone discrimination of any kind against any person on the grounds of their sexuality and that he shares Rugby Australia’s commitment to inclusiveness and diversity.
Rugby Australia and NSW Rugby do not in any way agree with the content of the Social Media Post. Inclusiveness is one of Rugby’s core values and it welcomes all people to the game, including all members of the LGBTI community. While it was not Rugby Australia’s intention, Rugby Australia acknowledges and apologises for any hurt or harm caused to the Folaus. Similarly, Mr Folau did not intend to hurt or harm the game of rugby and acknowledges and apologises for any hurt or harm caused.
Rugby Australia and Mr Folau wish each other well for the future. The Parties do not intend to comment further on the terms of their settlement as it is confidential.

I wonder. Nowhere near as much as he was asking I'd wager. How much money did he have on his contract? Now people can stop focussing on him as a lightning rod for free speech and just see him for the kook he is

RA can start the new year clean.

Was talking to my gay cousin and his partner about this Folau thing and they had a unique and relevant take on the whole saga.
Basically their message to Raelene and Allan Joyce and all other heterosexuals condemning Folau on behalf of all homosexuals was "Go fuck yourselves!"
His position was; if an adulterer, drunkard, idolator, fornicator, thief, atheist or liar was actually offended by Folau's quote then stand on that as it affects you and you have a genuine grievance.
But, if all of that is "water off your back" or nonsense talk, and you're standing up for the gays out of ill informed pity, well the arrogance and superiority of your position is an insult to anyone born homosexual.
You're basically saying "look it doesn't bother me as an atheist, but the homosexuals obviously can't mentally cope with this nonsense like I can. They are intellectually inferior, can't evaluate their position as well as me and need me to help them - the poor, intellectually challenged gays without the same rationalising mechanisms as me."
I got their point.
Basically their position was mind your own fucking business and stop fawning over us like we're victims to dumb talk, while you're not.
You're not offended by it, so why assume that I am.
How can we get on with our lives when you all continually keep pointing us out as fragile marginalised members of society?
Their last point as rugby fans was; stop using us as victims and stop denigrating our intelligence, not all of us are as precious and fragile as you'd believe us to be. All we want to do is watch rugby and Izzy's good at rugby. His nonsense beliefs mean nothing to us.
Fair call. The whole thing has been about upsetting gays with nary a word about the other "sinners". Incredibly arrogant in my view, and my relations (sample size of 2 homos).
