Aussie Bush Fires

some little shitstains lit a fire on the vacant block across the road from us last night. When you are surrounded by trees that is not fucking cool!
Thank fuck i live in the tropics, and even though we've had the driest November on record, we're still not dry here, and bushfires of that scale are not really a risk
That said, we are seeing a few popping up in unusual areas this year.

As someone who is due to get married at a venue in Bawley Point next March, this South Coast fire is pretty fucken scary.
Fire crossed the road into Bawley point this evening, last heard cool change might help but unknown how many homes lost.
Bawley point is a great place..hope you and your wife’s intended venue is still standing
..I’m over these fricken fires, if I caught someone lighting one I’m sure my ensuing sentence for vigilante justice would be harsher than the prick who lit it.

During the last real period of extreme and catastrophic fire weather (the start if this thread) I signed up to the QFES (Qld Fire & Emergency Services) media centre to get email alerts. (Am working at Council at the moment and Disaster Coordinator suggested we do that to keep informed.)
Unfortunately I don't have actual numbers but had noticeably sided down last week. Seriously ramped back up again last few days.
Only take notice of those fires somewhere near us though.
I can say that in all that time the Woodgate fire, the one closish to us, was never extinguished. It is "contained" now, but still burning. I find that scary that these fires just keep going.

From memory Bawley is the only 'clearing' in the area and surrounded by bush on all sides isn't it

@NTA takes a special kind of human to handle that nightmare scenario aye. They are dead set legends.
The issue will be later in the year when the volunteers are exhausted - some of these guys n gals have been going 2 weeks fairly solid. They're not attending their regular jobs and businesses so its hurting the economy as well.

This thing is huge, especially since the north Sydney fires joined and created a mega wall of 60km forefront last night, and no let up in sight..
