That will get the bad drivers off the road!

Might not be the 2nd oldest if they don’t deal with it so well...
I heard someone argue for them to do (relatively) nothing to slow it down as if they lose a few thousands or tens of thousands of 70plusers then healthcare, social security etc costs come down while any of their wealth gets shifted down to the younger inheritants.

After some heavy in depth analysis, listening the experts, scientists and facebook.. I ahve decided
I ahve no fucking idea what to think. Like none at all. I swing between just saying fuck it, lets just lift all bans and let it play out and get back to normal faster as the disease doesnt seem that bad, to lets lock everyone down it s gonna be a disaster.
I have now settled on... having no idea what to think about it. I have found myself agreeing with posts that contradict each other....
I do know I hate the media though.
And anyone why hoardes toilet paper should be stripped of the right to vote or drive a car.
We now have a ban on all Aircraft travel whether internal or abroad. I'm interested in what other large NZ based companies are doing.

the wife's firm has now banned all "non essential" travel, which included her trip this weekend.
I know of a large engineering firm that has banned all travel worldwide.
here in the tourism industry, we are of the opinion you should all come to the tropical North Queensland. and spend money.

Authorities just aren't very good at explaining things really, are they?
As far as I can tell this is really a case of trying to slow down the spread so we aren't having to deal with numbers that overwhelm. Simple as that.
It isn't really that the virus is super deadly just that if we let it spread it will affect many more people than the system can cope with and will escalate. Obviously the more it escalates the more numbers make up the small % that die.
I think that the NZ approach is well focussed on measures to stop escalation beyond coping capacity. What we now need is for that message to get across and for people to do their part rather than concentrate on stockpiling. -

How good would it be if you were one of the first diagnosed and recovered. Best time to go on a bit of a world tour taking up the cheap flights and hotels knowing you are likely immune from further infection.

I know people that are taking holidays for that very reason - unbelievable deals.
-
Best value holiday I ever booked was immediately after Sadaam invaded Kuwait. 10 days in Luxor - flights 5 star accommodation, own guide - basically a Platinum holiday package at budget pricing.
Poor old Egypt was almost empty of tourists - apparently because a majority of Yanks were too afraid to travel anywhere within 1,000kms of Iraq.
There are already some very tasty holiday deals on the market. Kerala's got a functioning health system and is looking quite good. Only thing giving me pause is the rest of India could get quite... interesting - very quickly.

Only parts of Qtown that seemed to be hurting are those that put all their eggs in the Chinese market. Dart River Jets seemed very quiet, for instance.
There were heaps of Aussies around and a few that we spoke to actually said that they probably spent more money as some places/attractions were easier to book and they knew they wouldn't have to deal with busloads of Asian tourists.
Not a lot of talk about flights/accom hurting as this is a bit of a quiet period pre-winter anyway.
Also the likes of Hackett etc attract a different market.
If I was a Euro/Yank looking for somewhere to go I would think NZ is a pretty attractive and low risk proposition.
Flights are pretty cheap to Qtown as long as you book in advance anyway. Our short notice trip only cost $100 return each and the same for a snow trip already booked for July. -

Nah, home now. Had the luck of a glorious stretch of weather with sunny days in the mid 20s.
