Sure cite the idiot and likely sanction him but ffs tone down the hysteria
...Question for you - do you think that's a red card on the field if it gets seen? ...
I really don’t know. On the one hand it’s sort of innocuous but it’s also bang out of order. The thing is that this is not a scourge that is blighting rugby and “steps must be taken to stop this from continuing “. It’s a one off act of stupidity and by all means punish him for that but don’t pretend it’s a big issue.
I don’t think that anyone here is saying this is a scourge that is blighting rugby. Save your argument on that front for some uneducated non fan down the pub.
Should a message be sent though? Absolutely.
Not a big issue, just one that should be condemned straight away to send a clear message that this isn’t part of the game.
I do wonder that if there wasn’t an outcry whether this would have been sidestepped by not meeting the red card threshold though. -

Unbiased opinion.
I would suggest it was a deliberate attempt to get a reaction

Just a quick straw poll, to see if I am the exception. Anyone here have a close friend who tries to touch their penis?
Maybe its an english thing? I have never had a friend who liked to do that to people.
I have, but as she's quite good looking I generally let it slide.

Bit like being reffed by Romain Poitre then...

Sir JK on the Breakdown said it happened to him all the time, and he did it to his close mates.

I think I saw every test match JK played, I can't remember seeing that " all the time", or is this another situation where context doesn't matter?

As with Moody above he wass talking about rugby related areas, like changing rooms, training, etc
-
@Kirwan yeah mate, but this case is a different situation with probable retaliation consequences. To apply what happens in a test match ( or any rugby match) to normal life is pretty disingenuous.
Wanking would be permissible following that rationale.
This is simply an opportunity to redraw the lines of acceptability in rugby, whatever the outcome. Not the end of the world, just a small spot fire to deal with and move on
-
@mooshld not for me, but there were 2 guys in our team who used to give one another a flick or a squeeze, always got thier nuts out during drinks (well one more so than the other)...both married, generally respectable humans now, but on the lash during rugby season, animals!

Bang on.
Another thing to remember here though is that AWJ immediately reacted in a 'WTF' manner. That kind of dismisses all theory of 'having a laff'. Unwelcome groping is unwelcome groping.
I pat the missus on the bum all the time and she has no problem with it. I don't think I'd try it on anyone else though.
As said above. It just needs reiterating that playing rugby doesn't afford you the right to break normal conventions. Marler's problem is that he gets in trouble a fair bit so will get very little leniency. -

I wonder how Vinnie Jones and Gazza feel about all this?
Why? 32 years ago? Hardly comparable at all. Lots went down 32 years ago that has been weeded out now.
I daresay that incident would certainly be treated differently now. -

I daresay that incident would certainly be treated differently now.Because they are probably shaking their heads at the big deal made from a little 'boop' on the ole fulla.

You mean a couple of old blokes going “back in my day....”
Gee, I wonder what Buck Shelford thinks about that French prop..... -

No no, just because they are probably shaking their heads at the big deal made from a little 'boop' on the ole fulla.
