Just a quick PSA I can't confirm that alcohol will be delivered by supermarkets, so you have 2 and a half hours to get some if your plan is to not leave the house for four weeks.
much aroha to all of you, stay safe. Catch up in a while
Why can't we go and collect it from the supermarket?
You can. And they do deliver booze in NZ. Good luck getting a booking for sooner than 2 weeks tho!

If you go to the supermarket I'd pick New World. More expensive but doesn't feel as feral as the other two. The two NW branches near me were reasonably stocked and felt less intense than either Countdown or Pak n Save

So I am at work. Roads were a bit busier than I expected. Think Sunday morning busy.
I half expected to be stopped so I had an email from the Hospital explaining how we are a vital supplier but didn't see any sign of policing.
Been around and sprayed down all door knobs light switches and other hard surfaces with hospital grade disinfectant ahead of the skeleton staff we have on arriving.
Expect and hope it will be quiet today as hospitals are our only remaining client. We will actually be a good litmus test. If we see orders spiking it's holy fuck time - effectively we will get an order every time someone is being treated.

My wife got a letter from her employer last night to say that she is an essential worker. But she says that although they are essential, there's not much work, so they will probably be on reduced hours. Hopefully at full pay, but who knows any more.

@dogmeat said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
Yep - we're being asked to stay inside and watch Netflix for 4 weeks.
aren't you actually being expected to stay home, work 8 hours a day, and school your children?
-
@mariner4life assuming he has them, I think his kids are old enough to do thier own stuff...
my kids are gettign stuff form teachers via Google Classroom...I'm doing the PE
-
You guys need to pay more attention. I have said often that I never saw the need for kids until they were old enough to:
-
stand their own round at the pub
-
Drive me home from pub
I have a short attention span so was not prepared to wait 18 years.
Me, I'm in the office talking BS to a bunch of dubious characters on the interweb. Covid-19 lockdown has really had minimal effect on me to date.

no, i knew your offspring situation, but "stay home and watch Netflix" is the dream not the reality
Well, i say dream, but i get bored with that really quickly, i don't like to string two sick days together

Yeah, I'm at work too. The company I work for is deemed an essential service under "Packaging, production and processing of food and beverage products".
We all received a letter formally informing of us of this, complete with Business Address, and can be produced in case anyone (e.g. police) challenges us what we are doing outside of home when most people should be in lockdown.
All doors are open, there is usually eight in the office but I'm one of two in it (others working from home with laptop), cafeteria seating has been halved, the three shifts finish 15 minutes early so there is no interaction with the incoming shift, smokos and lunches are staggered, plenty of disinfectant everywhere (and not surprisingly some has been stolen).

I wonder if we work for the same company...…
Same for us but we had to shut down a couple of mills. Fortunately I can work from home so no need to be on site.

Another 78 today, total now 283.
-
27 recovered so 256 known active cases.
I thought the police dude gave seem contradictory info. Started off telling people they should only be on the road when travelling to essential places (work, supermarket, doctors etc) then when questioned later said people could drive to parks for exercise if it was kept locally.
I thought all the latter stuff was a no go??

Aw jeez that's dumb, make it simple, no non essential driving, that's what it says on the website
