Lockdown/Covid Check In

@Crucial ha not really any jobs he knows I can do, but yeah he seems to think if he slows down, he will stop completely...but just try to keep my chat positive and offered to get him some stuff tomorrow in town and he finally agreed (probably fed up of me offering haha)

@MajorRage apologies I was being over dramatic, I'm good for stuff but that's really kind thanks. It's more the work environment getting me down to be honest and constant stories of friends having coronavirus.
No problems that's good to hear. Life's a bit shit for a lot of people at the moment, so when can help out, happy to do so!

No dramatic change for me tbh
Live in a small market town in rural Wales.
Essentials are in walking distance.
Shop shelves are well stocked and shopping is civilised.
Out with the dog at sun up and see the same 1-2 guys each morning.
Lunchtime walk round the block I see no-one.
Evening dog walk with the missus we may see 2-3 people.
Missus is working from home so I'm im the upstairs 'office' (see attached)
I keep house when I'm not teaching skiing so nothing different there.
Still having a chance to take photos when I'm out and about, but all commercial photography work is on hold.
Plenty of chat with family and friends via wattsapp and facebook.
And ski forums and the Fern.

@barbarian You might want to think again re the Houseparty trivia evening. There's some stuff going around that the app has been hacked. Not sure of the truth of it but there was an article on the BBC suggesting house party had offered a reward (don't know if that is for the author of the hack or for the author of the rumour), article not showing now. Maybe just double check?

Sshhh .... I was looking forward to watching their game.

@barbarian massive congrats to you both. Dude, you can do this. Manage the lockdown and you are legit golden for life.. at least with the parentals, can't promise the same with the missus

Lockdown in Chez Cato is doing OK. I am managing working from home and Mrs Cato has been furloughed. Ms Cato No1 lives at home and her work has dried up (she does PI work and comic book writing). Keeping sane (just about) by getting out and about, taking the dog for a walk - we take it in turns, morning noon and night. Go shopping maybe twice a week. Doing our best to keep fit with some HIIT circuits and trying to adhere to staying off the wine until 18:00 hours. So far so good but we're only 10 days into it.
The biggest problem for my personal sanity is trying to drag the ladies in my life up from the pits of depression following something they've seen on facebook or twitter, purported to be from some expert. I showed them that article that @barbarian posted from the Aussie doctor suggesting that all his colleagues should zip it but to no avail.
I'm self-diagnosing my own sanity by what time of the day I start looking at a bottle of wine.

That is a multipurpose desk if ever I saw one.
Yeah, we've got one of those in our house. I always wondered what it was for.

One thing I am struggling with is the eating side of things.
Trying to get into habits I have at work, 10.15 or so, have a coffee, sit on the deck, send a pic to my colleagues on whatsapp reminding them to break too.
Lunching the same time as I would, but it's having more choice readily available makes it easy to make poor choices compared to taking lunch...plus id go for walk round town, here I tend to just go grab a few feijoas from the tree and eat them.
Only consolation is I use my usual 20 min drive home as my exercise time, so exercising a lot more.

This is undoubtedly the biggest problem I have at the moment. We are dedicating the government 5pm updates now to our focus on the wider situation and that's it.
However, my wife has friends who work in the NHS, and it seems they love to give an update ... to be fair not all are negative. A friends son suspected he broke his finger yesterday playing football in the backyard. Went to A&E at St Peters hospital just up the road, was very quiet, 30 minute wait to be seen, and gone in an hour total. So it does seem that for people ARE listening to the advice and staying away.

All going pretty good here. Both lucky enough to still be working, although she's a contractor her current one is pretty safe.
What is hoped to be a nursery is still not required, so for now it's been turned into a den. Friday's groceries, also picked up a tv and hung on the wall and a desk that folds down from the wall and it's now Bonesetta's office, freeing up the downstairs office for me. Also will double as a movie/xbox room as it's the biggest tv in the house.
She's in there every morning doing yoga/pilates, we break from work about 11:30ish for a short, sharp workout in the back yard, then a short rest and lunch. She goes for a walk in the afternoon and I'm going to start heading down the park with a ladder and some cones to do a bit of running around.
Pretty well stocked up food wise and could probably survive a couple of weeks without even needing to shop. Trying to stay off the booze on weekdays....survived until Thursday last week...

Going pretty well. Even on the farm I am feeling a little closed in. Doesn't help we have a bull that is taking a while to come right. Prick must be getting there though as he charged me this morning for the first time only for true-love to start laughing.
Yeah - it's weird - almost nothing has changed in terms of daily routine on my farm/lifestyle block - but the first couple of days I found I all a bit unsettling. Back in the routine now though and it all seems normal.
And my rams are also bolshie as fuck, but they're out to work tomorrow and that should calm them down!
-
My happy life has been turned upside down to be honest. Worst thing I've been through apart from the death of immediate family. Missing Rugby and Cricket. Missing the normal routine. Really tough to be working fulltime away from place of work and trying to home school the kids at the same time. Lots of people I know are sick. I'm worried about everyone.
Really proud of the resilience of my kids. The dog seems really happy to have us around more. Listened to a few good podcasts. Able to go for a run around the park as a family each day. Great banter from 2 metre plus from neighbours. Heard from a few friends I've not heard from in ages. Glad not to have the constant background rumble of motorway traffic. Those are the postives.
We'll get through all of this, but it feels like a prison sentence. I go to sleep each night hoping normal will return very soon.
