So good, so so good
It really is! My little bit of sadness at not being able to work from home is easily overcome by the joy that L1 brings to the country.

Cindy's takin' us out of level 2 tomorrow,
Two tomorrow, two tomorrow
Cindy's takin' us out of level 2 tomorrow
And we can play all day
We're leavin' level two, two, two
How about you, you, you?
You can come too, too, too
We're leavin' level two, two, two. -
Does L1 mean crowds allowed for Super Rugby Aorearoa?
-

Guess I will shave most of the beard off now, Full castro worked a treat.
You're in Wellington - just stay full hipster

they were just saying on the news every single arrival to NZ will be tested now.

Well, I've been critical of the slow move to L1 and of the Gov stealing days here and there, so I guess I need to give credit where it's due - they could easily have announced L1 from Thursday, Friday, whenever, and gotten away with it, but to break protocol and go with the same day as the announcement was great. Good on them.
Happy days, next step is that pesky trans Ta$man border.

Hopefully, but might be the realm first (Tokelau, Cook Islands, Niue) and Fiji, Samoa, Tonga next since they're all Covid-free.
Anyway, congratulations everyone for making it through and earning level 1 early.

Keep getting the odd case on this left side of the ditch.
I blame Victorians.

The Cook Islands PM has been vocal about wanting to open the border with NZ. The problem is that the tourism will mostly be in one direction so doesn't really help the NZ economy apart from travel agents/Air NZ. But if you want a holiday...

Congratulations.
Just heard this morning that Wales will continue the 'no more than 5 miles from home' rule until mid-July at the earliest

Legally, that border is open anyway - Cook Islanders are NZ citizens so aren't prevented from coming here, and the rules for the inward Cook Island border is up to them, and likewise Niue and Tokelau (for the realm) and the other PI countries (for NZ tourists). The issue is the quarantine in NZ which makes everyone think twice, and as you say, the NZ economy gets basically nothing out of it.
I think the realm should be first though - that's part of NZ, sort of, and should be our first priority.

What a headline. At what point are you fuckers going to get over yourself.
It's pretty damn impressive.
She keeps referring to the team of 5 million all the time and while it is a massive cliché, she is right. Collectively, for the most, we have all helped achieve this by supporting each other at a community level and sticking to the guidelines in terms of behaviours.
I'm a proud kiwi at the moment.
