@canefan yeah I guess it is an ongoing investigation, and you'd have thought if they were at large still the public should know? Or maybe they have 1 of the people from the car which is why info is sketchy right now too?

Police are speaking to two people of interest after an officer was killed in a shooting in west Auckland on Friday morning.
In a press conference, Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said police have found a firearm and are speaking to two 'people of interest'.
Footage captured by Newshub earlier shows the AOS surrounding a house on Rena Pl in West Harbour, a suburb adjacent to Massey.
A Newshub camera crew captured video footage of several AOS officers with weapons drawn and bulletproof vests on in the driveway of the property.
One officer can be seen with a police dog on a leash, while another shelters behind a riot shield.
The footage also shows one person being handcuffed near the property - however, moments later, police let him go.

No one should go to work and not expect to make it home safely.
I guess we are lucky at least these are so rare, first instance since 2009 accoutring to the media.I'm pleasantly surprised by that stat. It feels more regular.
Yeah it is a reassuring stat but then any lose is terrible. I’d imagine other parts of the world it’s a daily occurrence.
Just the 33rd in NZ. Sadly for my family, as a few ferners are aware, one of those was my Grandad.
Shit like this always makes my Mum in particular pretty sad so I best give her a bell. Never nice to see her fathers name on the news.
No words to describe the piece of human filth who committed this latest offence so I won’t even bother trying.

Yesterday I heard of this incident in Ireland, hadn't heard about the NZ one..
I think this stuff is happening a lot anyway and we are just hearing about it more at the moment as there is a focus on policing. So sad though. Such a tough job.

Well they’ve charged a 24 year old man with murder. No other details, but more charges are apparently not ruled out. Let him rot.
