I wonder who China and Russia would prefer to see win this election?
Arguments for both sides I reckon
China -> Maybe Biden
Russia -> Maybe TrumpNo 'maybe' needed in either case.

And the next President of the Youuu Nited States of Murka is ...
... Kamala Harris
Announced as Biden's running mate.
'Slow Joe and Phoney Kamala' is the tag assigned by the Trump campaign.
Good to see that the kiddies in the sandpit had their names already lined up.
Is there an adult in the house? Anywhere?
So what would you suggest?
Oh, I don’t know, maybe just their names or titles. Kind of like a grown up would do.
Kind of a bit boring then. And not the best strategy.
How is petty childish name calling even a legitimate strategy for a rational sensible adult? It worked well for Trump and his fanbois in the last election, but what does that say about those people in general? I have such a low opinion of America at the moment. China must be sitting by laughing at the way that the American Empire is surrendering their place as the No. 1 superpower
The voters prefer entertainment. Its really no different today than in the past. We like to think we are rational sensible adults but most don't even come close. My view is most are adult children looking for a parent figure to save them. Some turn to the church. Other to our political leaders etc.
But enough of the boring stuff.

Picking Kamala was probably a power play imposed on Biden by the DNC establishment.
I think they are underestimating just how unlikable she is. Her Presidential campaign was a disaster and she received a huge amount of unearned hype (while they ignored Bernie)
Her past as a hard-line prosecutor won't endear her to the left and she has no strategic value in swing states. I think the more the US see of her, the less they will like her. All in all, however, since it is just the VP pick, perhaps it doesn't matter. On the other hand, everyone knows Biden might not make it through the first term, so there might a bit more focus on her than usual.

Explains why there are so few rational adults in the US election then.

Russia & China must be longing for a "do nothing which looks difficult" president like Obama

I don't think you can criticise Harris or anyone else for initially believing Smollett. Most people would default to truth when hearing about what he said happened to him, simply because the alternative that he made it all up is too ridiculous to consider right off the bat.

She’s a politician. Never complain , never explain. Unless of course you’re going to offend the twattisphere, then it is mea culpa all day long.
Is anyone else getting sick of Z list celebs and pollies saying “sorry for saying X I should have known better” when it’s screamingly obvious to everyone they really don’t give a shit? Why can’t we call out these fluffybunnies for being cock sucking hypocrites?
I’m now going back to my bottle of red. A rather nice Carignan from the south of France.

Some anti Trump stuff in here that isn't needed, especially as they are basically making a populist argument (which is really what got trump elected), but the Mabo of the piece is worse considering.
During our lives, we are likely to see world power change from the USA to China - for better or (far more likely) worse.
This was a great article. Agree the anti-Trump stuff is a bit much at times, but the underlying points are solid. This paragraph got me:
-
Trump wasn't the only buffoon - not by a long way way. The likes of Pelosi, Di Brasio and Cuomo are way up in that pantheon.
The danger is the current fashion for blaming all that's wrong in the US on Trump, his opponents engaging in name-calling and childish antics just hides the deeper malaise in US politics.
-
@Victor-Meldrew thats not untrue, but only one of those people was POTUS. Only one had access to all the resources you could want, all the reach to the people necessary. All the access to the science, both domestic and international. All the ability to project messaging to the common folk.
He doesn't get a pass just because other politicians acted like tits too.
-
I don’t know what’s worse, the narcissistic whining or the biased reporting.

Does he really have the power that, say, BoJo has? Trump had to fight Congress to restrict visitors and to get his economic package thru. In the UK, it was just done.
All the ability to project messaging to the common folk.
Agree he was shambolic and not up to the crisis. Not helped, though, by his opponents telling the public there was nothing to worry about and Trump was scaremongering and effectively exaggerating the dangers.
He doesn't get a pass just because other politicians acted like tits too.
No, I'm not giving him any pass. I'm just arguing that focussing solely on Trump's handling of the crisis hides the seriously fucked-up nature of US politics ATM.
You have to wonder if there'd be much difference in outcome with a Biden or Hilary POTUS if the Republicans actively opposed almost every crisis measure as the Democrats have done.

Silly nonsense like this is why Trump will win this election
and his recommendation or rather a suggestion (hydroxychloroquine not a household disinfectant)) is what many are likely to agree with. But only a few are willing to speak out

You don't even keep up with what Trump says, at one point he was talking about killing the virus with bleach.

A little bit of good news
Israel struck a diplomatic agreement with the United Arab Emirates on Thursday to establish “full normalization of relations” even as it forgoes for now plans to annex occupied West Bank territory in order to focus on improving its ties with the rest of the Arab world.
In a surprise statement issued by the White House, President Trump said he brokered a deal that would lead to Israel and the Emirates signing a string of bilateral agreements on investment, tourism, security, technology, energy and other areas while moving to allow direct flights between their countries and set up reciprocal embassies....................

that speaks to me too, pure left and right politics aside, I think a great leader would have been able to get at least a consensus to agree with him...but from the outside it spread like the people that already liked him like him more and hate the others more...and those that didn't like him less..so more division
