They do a pancakes, bacon, eggs, pineapple and banana option that I love for breakfast. Always happy to have a sweet pancake for dessert as well. I'm 12.
Neps that is just the weirdest combination ever.
Pancakes and banana on one plate, eggs and bacon on another, throw the pineapple out the window it has no right to muscle in on breakfast time. The pineapple is the icing on the cake, well the pancake.

That’s a plate of two halves if ever I saw one.
One of my sons would love one side, the other would love the other side.
I’m glad they meet in the middle for Indian and Sushi
The only problem with that dish is its name on the menu - the Aussie Sunrise.
Those things don't belong together in my opinion. It's like my Canadian half sister and her hubby being shocked that I didn't soak my Bacon in maple syrup. It's hot sauce or nothing for me.
I hate pineapple and all things pineapply. Hawaiian Pizza, Pina Coladas, Pineapple juice etc. I also don't like pears much but I"ll devour Apples, Oranges and Grapefruit til the cows come home.

I'm the opposite of you with pineapple, I'll eat it with any meal - don't care for the juice though. I don't eat apples (had enough of them growing up in HB), oranges or grapefruit.
@dogmeat Bahahaha, the bacon still tastes the same.

OK let me refrain - Meat with sweet fruit is the devils work but nah Duck a l'orange is so sixties. Don't have apple with pork or do the cheeries with venison thing.
I don't have a sweet tooth. Don't eat biscuits, chocolate, cakes, desserts, sweets - have sugar in anything except a mojito.

My apologies if this has been raised, the All Blacks are refereed differently and more advantageously than other teams.

@raznomore wouldn't the corned beef get overwhelmed by the spaghetti flavours?
Nothing wrong with either in their place - obviously on a pizza for the spaghetti if you're from Southland and in palusami for the corned beef . Love palusami

You never have apple sauce with pork?
@dogmeat 's point stands

TBH, aside from the pineapple with this breakfast, Brazillion BBQ and pineapple rings with fish and chips , I don’t actually like sweet fruits etc with main meals.

@dogmeat you would think so. But its a beautiful marriage of weird and savoury.
Palusami or Luau is a massive favourite in my family. Especially with my palagi wife. I made it for the first time ever recently - mum had always done it previously. I got the taste right - its hard to get wrong - but I left a little too much of the stems of the taro leaves on. So you end up with little prickles in your throat.
We were all fine but my daughter's Greek/Australian bf, who was trying to impress me by eating loads of chop suey and luau, was spewing the next day...
-
@raznomore I first knew it as luau as I had a bunch of Tongans work for me 20 years ago.
When we were having a work feed I would give a guy a day off and $100 and he would cater - suckling pig from the umu, luau, chop suey, slaws, roast chicken, taro, plantain mmm mmmm. Well apart from te taro and plantain TBH them I don't go for. Starchy stodge.
One year the same guy learned my old man was flying in from Oz. I'm waiting in the arrivals hall and Tonga (parents were creative with names ) turned up with 4 kids in tow handed me a big skip bin full of food " for your Dad" and went off to church. the OM was a bit suspicious at first but loves his crackling but we had enough to feed about 15 not three!!
I've cooked it when we've stayed in Raro - as you say really easy. First stall I head for at Pasifika too.
