@Kirwan Probably as real as John Wick
Don’t care, it’s still awesome.

Fuuuck!!

@taniwharugby When I see stuff like that I always wonder why the guys watching it don’t do something. Fire a gun, blow the horn, anything to give the prey a chance.
Edit: They watched that for five hours?!

@Catogrande grab a tissue then city boy😉. Odds are that giraffe died a slow death 12 to 24 hours later if that makes you feel better.
Can we please have one domain of life where feelings can't change facts? 😀

Prolly the same guys then have to shed a tear when they come across a pride of lions that died of starvation.

@Siam I’d assumed the odd animal or two might die prematurely in the wild 😬 just find it odd not to do something in that case, just sit back and watch for five hours. Why not then follow it until it drops down dread too. Would get more notice on insta or wherever

They could have just left some sandwiches for the lions

Maybe a nice calming cup of camomile for each of them. Angry bastards.

@Catogrande what about the wasted 6 hours those lions spent on that giraffe when they coulda been out shopping for other fresh meat for the kids...so that night the cubs def went hungry anyway.
On the subject of kids, poor giraffe looked like a parent with thier toddlers hanging on wanting something.

Yep. Kruger park guide said to me "they may be king of the jungle but everybody hates lions". He was referring to the other animals, but I think they are awesome.
-
@dogmeat It is isn't it?
It's not really "jungle" as I would see it in general (more savannah), but the King bit I get. Nobody really fucks with them when they are adults.
I always thought Great Whites were top of the chain as well until I found out that Orca will slice them open to eat their liver (with chianti and fava beans I assume).

India (and Iran) in the past. Apparently Lions are worse fighters one on one, but because they hunt as a gang, there are stories of them killing (stronger) Tigers:
They're not exactly back together yet (edited):

@taniwharugby Good clip to show strength of fully grown giraffe. If it had tripped or stumbled badly it would be tickets. But it is pure muscle with massive levers for legs. Sub adults more often the target. One kick from that size giraffe obviously problematic if it lands. Damaraland in Namibia lion are pretty successful targeting fully grown ones but even a smaller giraffe is a lot of food but less risk. That giraffe was pretty brute. Not surprised it lasted hours. And crazy scars and missing tails from escapes are definitely seen from time to time.
Lion prides can be very large. Largest I have seen is 17 but it can be over 20 sometimes. That’s a lot of empty bellies. So bigger prides have to hunt more regularly. And they’re opportunists of note. So for sure they will have a crack at it. But notice how lionesses held back in the clip. They know it’s dangerous. Not saying it was a half hearted attempt. Just need a bit of luck for it to actually go down.
As for “king”....elephant are the true kings of the bush no question
