The
SpanishAmerican Flu took more lives too despite a smaller population.FIFY
If you are comparing within the same country the first stat is meaningful. The second point is irrelevant.

I thought everyone would infer I was talking about American deaths to the Spanish Flu.

@antipodean Sorry for the confusion. My comments were in response to the contents of that tweet.
I agree with what you said.

Can someone please explain how China has less than 5,000 recorded COVID deaths

It's not the people who vote that count, it's the people who count the votes.

@nzzp The Chinese are undoubtedley fixing the numbers, but they have also taken the virus seriously and have the ability as a totalatarian state to implement draconian lockdowns and mass testing very quickly.
What was it two cases and they locked down a city of two million and tested the entire population in days.
That has to contain the spread.
Plus forgetting to carry the one when you're calculating the numbers

I wonder if the US is able to keep up with data around possible multiple infections or multiple tests?
According to this https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries
US has a population of 333m, almost 2/3 of the population have been tested at 215m, have to assume that there are plenty that have had multiple tests?
16m cases, with almost 6.5m active, and 300k in deaths, those numbers are pretty staggering really, and worst part is they dont seem to be slowing!
When are they starting to roll out the vaccinations, assume it'd be a few weeks or so after this you would expect to start seeing a slow down?
I have a client who has recently returned from his place in California where he spent the NZ winter, and he said it is pretty crazy over there.

What do we do with people like this guy?

@MiketheSnow they broke their abacus?

UQ and CSL are cancelling clinical trials of their vaccine.
Presser soon, but banner on the news this morning suggests some anomaly with false positives for HIV.
Mrs CF said they used an HIV protein to help stabilise the virus in the vaccine and didn't expect that human recipients would develop antibodies to it. But they have which then triggers a positive HIV test. Oops

Oops indeed. So now people are HIV positive? Worse is people can't sue the company responsible for any f++k ups.

So now people are HIV positive?
No.
They use the presence of AB antibodies as the marker for if you have HIV. This is a false positive

But can anyone tell whether its a false positive or a real positive. And if so whats the issue?

Blood tests beforehand to establish a baseline of health for side effect checking which would include checking for HIV, or at least retaining blood samples to allow testing later if required.

Thought this was interesting insight into where movie making is at right now;

I haven't read or heard anything lately on whether people are catching Covid multiple times. Surely it's been around long enough now for us to have an idea on whether we develop immunity or not.
