@Victor-Meldrew I actaully understand the teachers unions point of view. And poor leadership from Williamson is what has caused these huge waves of negativity towards them. Some basic response he may have thought of.
Q: We aren't going to school as it's clearly not safe for us
A: Science disagrees with you and given you are teachers, we would expect you to respect science.Q: I'm not going back in until I've had the vaccine
A: Ok. We'll put you on the statutory sick pay until your vaccine times comes up and you can go in after then. In the meantime, we'll send a letter to each of your student parents explain why you are outQ: What if cases go nuts?
A: Then we'll close the schools and we'l switch to online learning as we have done in the past and currently are.Q: Zoom from home? Thats my private space!! No way!
A: You are welcome to go into school and zoom from there.Q: But key worker children are in there, so that's not safe
A: Then please zoom from home.Q: But thats my personal space.
A: Nobody is asking you to zoom with kids whilst you take a shit. Create small space you are prepared to share. You are aware we are in a pandemic right & a lot of poeple are going through absolute hell. We are asking you to put a white sheet / board up behind you.Q: This has been handled so poorly. I refuse to teach.
A: I refuse to pay you.Q: Right, fuck you I'm off to my union.
A: Are you aware this is a conservative government? Can't disagree with you that Williamson should have considered that approach.
But have some serious worries about your last point.... -

Are there actually people refusing to teach from home (this is genuine question)? If so, holy shit.
Yes, if it means Zoom contact, as it invades their privacy.

I know I'm regurgitating the same old, same old, but just what the fuck is wrong with these people.
Police in London break up wedding with 400 guests
Guests at the wedding had covered the windows so people could not see what was going on inside
-
I'm not sure what to say about that except that these people probably don't give a shit about their a) jobs and/or b) their students
Seriously, right, people moaning about this? You have a white(ish) collar job and can work from home, and that's the problem? I do somewhat understand if ppl are having problems with internet etc, but that's separate.

Turns out the wedding was held in a closed Jewish school being used as a COVID Testing Centre.
They sure had a lot of chutzpah.

Police were as popular as pork chops at Jewish wedding?

This is what happens when one of your main political parties is proven to be against your type of people. You have a feeling of being able to do whatever you want without consequence. I.e - being above the law.
They have caused not dissimilar problems in Israel!

Got nothing to do with Labour
Hasidic communities are a law unto themselves.
And shit drivers.

I'm not sure the wedding was actually Jewish, but your point is a good one.

We definitely need more people like you in politics to keep us grounded, Mike

On the teachers allegedly not wanting to do this from home.
I suspect it is one or two who have said this (dickheads in every profession) as I have seen absolutely no sign of this or heard of it from any of the other parents at other schools but rather only being "talked" about on places like this.
I would love my kid in school if that were possible but you know it is a pandemic and I can see why we are where we are.
The Tories have been lieing incompetents throughout and you can clearly see them choosing to lie one week knowing it buys them time to change their mind next week but if people vote for Bojo the clown who has always been a dishonest bumbler that is what we get sadly.
Anyways, I look forward to school returning when it can - there are no good /easy choices right now.
It undoubtedly causes issues for their education, parents ability to work and plenty of stress all around but this virus is real and allowed unchecked the results would be devastating. (All those saying it is not so bad are crazy, even if the death rate is only up a bit right now that is insane considering the curbs to the way we live over the last year)

It is/was one of the main teaching unions guidance to teachers and many head teachers banned it. They were concerned about teachers being videoed and those videos being uploaded to porn sites.
Most teachers seem to be doing their very best in the circumstances, but a lot of head teachers and LEAs haven't been up to the task

It would seem a massive shame to not have contact
Though as I think about it the secondary kids could be bloody nightmares (none of mine are in this bracket yet and perhaps that is where this battle is more)
I have found the school teachers I have seen to be willing but waaaay behind on how to effectively use this technology which I guess isn't a huge suprise as it would not have been used much before but coming from a world it has been ubiquitous for quite a while pre pandemic it has been a eye opener how far behind the times people can get

Whoa! What the fuck are they teaching kids these days and where can I sign up?
