Lockdown/Covid Check In
-
Just took my first planned Holiday since 2019. Three days (um make that four days thanks to Covid cancellation of coach) at the Hilton in Taupo with my BFF celebrating 25 years of friendship. I needed that more than I thought. Can certainly recommend The Bistro as a restaurant of choice, good food, ambience, a modest wine list and great service.
Was annoyed as fuck that some pricks on the coachj on Monday weren't wearing masks - I myself wear them even though I have issues with adequate air intake (I have 1 and a bit lungs left) so Joe Gym Rat had no fucking excuse and Johnny ACT Senior Citizen was just a grade a arsewipe

A week to go until my little lamb returns to school and I could make a kebab out of her today...
We've both hit a wall, she hates the sight of a laptop and I suspect she actually hates her teacher now (the one on the screen not the fake mum teacher)
I've sacked it all off for the day, left my work laptop on and have zero guilt, currently soaking in the bath eating houmous and cucumber whilst she plays with her lego in her room.She's 5, she can count and she can read better than most kids her age, she will be OK for today.
Anyone else getting a bit crazy even though the end of lockdown is in sight-ish?

@canefan never during the day...
The sun is always over the yardarm somewhere in the world.

There isn't a teacher / parent in this country that disagrees with what you are doing! Sometimes, everybody just needs a break.
I cannot fucking wait for Monday.

@Catogrande when she's in bed tonight I'm ordering an Italian, something really carby and creamy and some zucchini fritti. THEN I'll open the gin.

@majorrage have a daytime bath, it's soothing

@r-l you’re doing a great job and your 5 year old will remember what Mum did during this time.
We had to homeschool our 5 kids for ages during lockdown and no matter how motivated and organised we were or our kids were, there were just those days where someone didn’t want to get out of bed. And that includes the parents...
And we were pretty cool with it, but we made it like a great day so they knew it was different to what a “normal” day was.
One of the challenges during lockdown was that days can quickly morph together if you don’t set some sort of daily routine. Especially dangerous if you are working from home is separating work time and other time.

@act-crusader thanks, mum guilt has been through the roof, but hopefully it's the last ever time I'll have to home school and work from home.
And if any smart arse pipes up and says "well pandemics are probably going to be more frequent now bla bla bla" then my response is two words long with a hand gesture. 🖕🏻

Don't do that shit, rational brain needs to fight lizard brain. Remember, rule 1: survival. Rule 2: anything else is a bonus
The kids will be fine, and we over-estimate our ability to positively influence them.

You guys, if I could roll you all into one Jamie Dornan shaped man you would be the perfect husband. And I'm sure you all are. Good work guys.
Today we are back on track, today is a good day👍🏻
