Movie review thread...

@crucial it was not a threat, just a hell of a lot of effort to go through for a flop
Can’t be a flop, it’s safe on a streaming service. All it needs to is get subscribers.
Even the shitty version made over 650 million on a $300 million budget. So add in the $70 mill extra, and DVDs, etc they are fine.

I am half way through. The stupid part where Mamoa flaps his arms to enter water and "I hear you can talk to fish" with the head tilt were thankfully edited out so I'm already a fan....
I'm enjoying this version. That's not something I expected as I do not rate Snyder at all. But this is better. A lot better. Steppenwolf is now menacing. Not on the same level as Thanos. Where hey actually managed to give a CGI character both charisma and humanity. But it's a huge improvement
Edit: Hit delete instead of edit. 12 hour days don't agree with me...

Mandy Moore suits the 1940s aesthetic like a glove. She is gorgeous.
No tits.
Nah, I'd take Kate Beckinsale in Pearl Harbour instead
You could also apply the statement about no tits.

Midway
Fucking loved this. Splosions n war n shit, but pretty tastefully done and showing the Japanese side as well.

No tits.
You make one statement then contradict it in the next sentence. I’m confused

You're a simple creature.

Undoubtedly, but gorgeous and no tits together does not compute.

Well the basic story is not different, I don't think it's spoilery. But I'd watch it first to be on the safe side

@kirwan Does it work as a stand alone movie or do you have to know the back story?
I don't go out of my way to watch comic book movies plus there are so many I've lost track of the story arc.
I would watch Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman (directors cut) then watch this new Justice League.
That makes it a stand alone trilogy, and the overall story makes sense that way.
The original Wonder Woman can be watched after these, same with Aquaman, but aren't necessary. They are just origin films.

I'd add too that this is quite an exciting change in how films could be made. No way you would want to go to a theatre to watch a four hour film.
But as this is split into six chapters and an epilogue, you could watch this over several days.
Allows for more complex stories to be told in film, sort of how we are getting ten episode bingable series on Netflex/Disney Plus.
This is a no compromises version of a film.
That said, there is a three hour cut of this that could be made, there is a lot of indulgence going on. But I love the extra depth, and time being taking to build characters.
The first film felt like Superman didn't need anybody else, this version had all the Justice League working together as a team. Wheddon butchered that first version.
