February: President Biden cancels funding for Trump border wall
April: Construction of Trump’s border wall will continue under Biden, administration admits
Joe and the media must wish it was late-2020 when it was so much easier to virtue-signal, blame everything on Trump and call him a liar, narcissist and blowhard, rather than attempt to understand the issues and engage in meaningful debate.
The real tragedy is that thousands more kids are being trafficked to the US by gangs seeing Biden as weak on immigration and now living in appalling conditions.
-
@victor-meldrew Meanwhile, more immigrant children in custody than under the Donald.
This isn’t going to end well.
-
So to understand:
- Biden is going to stay tough on immigration via plugging the gaps in the wall
- Gangs and baddies don't believe him, so have increased attempts at illegal immigration
- Bidens goodies have caught some of the baddies and have confiscated the human cargo
- Biden is bad/failing because of this
Do I have it right?
You guys know its only the 1st week of April, right?
I'm prepared to cut this administration some slack here.
I'm far more interested in the response to China. Those dudes scare the shit out of me, so emboldened, so seemingly prepared to do anything to secure their long-term dominance.

Yes. That very same wall he and his party spent the last four years denouncing as evil and inhumane and the work of a demented two-bit dictator.
Gangs and baddies don't believe him, so have increased attempts at illegal immigration
Why would they believe him? His party called Trump a racist when he called Mexican trafficking gangs "bad people". Biden told the world separating child refugees from their families was evil and he would stop it. He also said he would stop building the wall and would process illegal immigrants on US soil.
What did he think could possibly go wrong?
Biden is bad/failing because of this.
On this, absolutely. And it's children who are suffering.
He and his party had four years to analyse and come up with a workable Mexican border policy and clearly didn't. They simply retreated into a Trump-bashing comfort zone rather that look at the reality. And he's still doing it - blaming Trump for the huge increase in child refugees rather than try to fix the problem.
I'm far more interested in the response to China. Those dudes scare the shit out of me, so emboldened, so seemingly prepared to do anything to secure their long-term dominance.
I'm equally worried by an emboldened Putin annexing more Ukrainian territory and then some. After Crimea was annexed and Obama/Biden pretty much waved the white flag, he might just have a sneaking suspicion that Biden will unfurl the flag again.
We need a reasonably-united, strong US, led by a bloke who thinks things thru and a searching, analytical media to encourage debate. Instead we've had Trump and now a President who seemingly can't think things thru and gets praised in the media as a statesman for not falling off the lectern at a press conference.

Its interesting following up on Joe's election promises. It's hard to get a fair representation because the President is yet to hold many press conferences and still hasn't addressed congress.
Here are some of Joe's campaign promises and now democrat voters are waiting. (All of the videos are just Joe speaking)
The $15 minimum wage increase has been pretty much scrapped.
16 seconds vid
Another that no one will watch but there is a 20 second montage at exactly 6:35 which is enlightening. (Incidently on this video they talk about Jacinda "Andren" and NZ minimum wage but the pertinentcontent is at 6:35)
And the wall - first 20 seconds direct quote from Joe
Just trying to apply the same scrutineering as the previous president was subjected to, minus the epithets🙂

On the immigrants crisis at the border. From Dan Crenshaw on Rogan. Dan Crenshaw is literally a one eyed Republican congressman.
The cartels controls the border on the Mexico side. They charge about $300 per person. For families with kids they're put on a raft and told to surrender on the US side of the river. Nothing will happen and you'll be processed.
Single men are charged a bit higher and have to cross using cartel guides, coyotes. Less guarantee of success.100,000 border crossings every month equals a tidy 30 million dollar side business for the cartels!
The border processing for the Trump administration and the President Harris ( just quoting Joe. 4 times publicly at least🙂) administration are very similar. The single men get sent back immediately mostly. The families stay in grossly overcrowded processing areas. NGOs test for covid but border forces have no resources to deal with covid carrying asylum seekers.
The difference in Administrations strategy is small but showed effectiveness. The previous administration would randomly pick 29% of asylum seekers - let's be clear what these people are in order to bypass normal immigration processes. They are asylum seekers, fleeing persecution and death. A fast track into the United States.
The randomly picked 21%, singles and families, are (were) immediately sent back to US premises in Mexico where their asylum applications were taken over by Mexico and other Latin American countries. Trump had agreements with Mexico and others to aide this. Apparently Biden dispensed with those working relationships.
The effect of the random 29% was that bad actors and non genuine asylum seekers weren't willing to risk life savings payments to cartels only to lose the processing lottery and be back in Mexico minus the non refundable money you just paid to the cartel. This stalled the crossing numbers and greatly relieved border resources.
Spurious, non genuine border crossing attempts dropped away significantly due to this simple random sampling.
Under theHarrisBiden administration, crossings have surged and asylum seekers have stated that the atmosphere is that Joe will let you in. Asylum seekers are wearing Biden shirts in some epic trolling, probably supplied by the $30,000,000 a month cartelsPresident Trump was pilloried for his inane and destructive public utterances. President Biden has a few of his own, and a chocka block border to show for it.
According to Dan Crenshaw.

Ex- Navy SEAL. Lost his eye in combat. Set up a bi-partisan group in congress with Tulsi Gabbard and others to encourage politicians to find ways of working together rather than just shouting insults.
When SNL mocked his war injury, he didn't demand an apology but went on the show to talk about Veterans Day and the need for Americans to come together. Very classy.
Def. one to watch.

He comes across very well, and is very good at tripping up hosts with calmly stated facts.

I think the real problem is the real animosity & insult-throwing between the NRA and a sizeable minority in Congress, which makes warfare between Trump and his opponents look tame.
Trump tried to build a bi-partisan approach (and tbf, as did Obama & Bush) while reassuring the NRA and had McConnell & even Pelosi on board but it came to nothing, seemingly as Senators started squabbling and shouting.

Crenshaw is UK-born so can't run for President, but I just think he's the sort of calm, measured, pragmatic politician the US needs but seems to lack at the moment.

He probably is eligible. It would be challenged though as several candidates have been before (McCain, Obama, Cruz off the top of my head.. it would be nice if the courts actually rules on one of the challenges so we can have a settled definition)
He's talked about running several times. Plenty of pundits/journalists have suggested him for 2024.I agree he's media friendly but that becomes a negative when your base thinks you have sold them out. I can't see him having any impact now

Dunno. I think his grown-up style of politics might appeal to people who are sick and tired of the Pelosi's & Trump's of this world.
Maybe he's a sign of a change in the tone of US politics. Hope so.

I don’t see anything new. The criticism of him from the right is that he pandered certain groups that he didn’t really support. Words not matching actions. He’s nothing special, just your standard politician with above average tv presence.
