Fat busting/Ab circle
-
Okie dokie

went away for a week. 2 things happened. I lapsed and was treated to some good old family hospitality for the entirety of that week. 3 Hangi in one week!!!! My first spear hunting jaunt, shit loads of fish(none speared by me) and I swear I ate an entire formula tin of steam pudding. You can't say no when your guest.....

So a couple kegs back on.

Next we returned to Casa del Razbra and realised we had not returned the Ab circle before the 30 days had ended. Stuck with it now.

Im determined to get my moneys worth so Im doing 3 times a day and as an added stupidity Im doing crunches sets in between.

Diet wise as mentioned on MN5 thread we have decided to cut the carbs at dinner. Last night had mussels, prawns and lemon fish with spinach and a sav reduction and I can report it was the shit!

Tons of fun trying to find ways not to have spuds and pasta! -
Interesting thread Raz - it's almost like you work for the company. Lower everyone's expectations at the start. Complain about the equipment. And then, BANG, you come in with the great results.
<img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> (I know that's not the case though ....)

Your holiday away sounded awesome - 3 hangi in one week, that's like heaven. Steam pudding as well. Man I'm envious. -
Yeah you're not wrong. The whole thread has a cheesy informercial feel about. Purely unintentional and here's proof.

I would say had I been doing normal low impact swiss ball work or Otago crunches for the same amount of time I would honestly go out topless to do the groceries.

Now what it does do is give me a placebo to lead into my other fitness work. I start on that thing every morning and I feel good and then move on to other exercises. It does some good but not really what it claims to do.

The diet plan that came with it is commonsense and I got bored with it and went in another direction. But the important point here is that the diet has to go hand in hand with your training regime.

The people that they use in some of the ads would not actually be able to use this machine as it has a weight limit of 120kg but I was 107kg when I started and had I been 110kg I think it would have folded under me.

So basically I'll continue to use it on the basis that it has cost me $133(more than i was led to believe) for the next 3 months and I don't like to waste money.....too late.

Anyway I reckon its good for a morning wake up and hey I lost weight using it. Still no substitute for hard work so my endorsement of the AB Circle Pro goes as such:

I wouldn't buy it if you don't mind doing crunches. They are going to get you faster results and cost nothing! If you have motivation problems(normal ab work is too much like hard work for you) and are willing to stick at it(as it will take longer to get desired results) then I would say maybe this thing is good for you.

Nepia: was pretty good we got to Piha and my cousin said his mate was putting one in the ground. Just for about 20 people. Then the following day we went to my auntie house and had and another(shame with this one though as one of the boys on steam watch didn't do his job and let a lot of the heat escape. some of the chicken had to be turfed) then the day we left we stopped at a mates in Taupo and caught the end of his.

All were boutique jobs though. Nothing like what you get on the Pa <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> -
@Paj. I took a page out of Barts book as an experiment and honestly not likely to be looking back. I have cut right back on the carbs at dinner and that goes for the liquid kind as well. Which is what I miss most.
Introducing more fish too. My kids don't have enough seafood and my wife and I had always intended to have that as we ate little as kids.

All well and good only a couple weeks in to be talking like its worked for for years but It really is surprising how the weight falls off. It seems ridiculous that something so simple can make much of a difference!

Question Bartman. I have noticed that I don't snack anymore. No cravings after dinner which I thought would be the complete opposite of what I'd feel like. Normal or am I just weird?

Edit: Paj the no carbs thing works for me more than most likely because of my families dependence on pasta, bread and spuds. So I don't really need to do much more at this stage.

Im slowly learning about what meats are best(cuts specifically) Im finding it really interesting. -
Dunno Razz - I have a protein shake and Mrs B has yoghurt and protein pwder after dinner (an hour or two), but we don't really feel like snacking either - not through hunger anyway. If it si through anything, it would be through craving sugar or something - especially as the weeks get closer to comp!

If you do get hungry though after dinner folks - just load your plate up with more VEG - sans peas and corn and the spuds! -

cheers bart. -
Been a while since I've had McD's but bowed to pressure from My kids yesterday after we went to the movies. God I feel shite today. The same thing happened the last couple of times I've had it.

Woke with the shits!!! Back in my fast metabolism days I lived on this stuff with no ill effects but jesus its like a laxative now.

I think the good thing here is that Im becoming less interested in the foods that would set me back because they are not agreeing with me anymore. It was not ever an issue for me in the past, old story eat what I want and be sweet, age has a nice way of leveling the score though.

It's quite embarrassing not having ever taken notice of my nutrition having played several sports to fairly competitive levels. One year changed it all though. I couldn't do anything(sports/work) and continued on my merry way food wise and 20kg later.... It's amazing how good getting rid of old habits can make you feel.

Example of habitual eating: I would eat a pie and bacon'n'eggs sammies from a bakery almost everyday on the job and wash it down with a V. I'd drink maybe 4 of those daily.

Every friday I'd shout the boys a big breakfast as a motivational tool and do the same with the my wife on sat and sun morning.

Worst eating habit Pie sandwiches!!

Just far too stupid with my diet and it makes me feel sick thinking about it now. -
Noticing that the lower back is getting less of a work out now and the ab's are getting a bit more of their moneys worth. Still not as good as conventional sit ups but at least the actual target area is now being targeted!

Think perhaps the weight I was carrying in the back has gone and my technique is a bit better. Straighter back me thinks.

Went to Valentines(only place my daughter ever wants to go to) last night and was full after just the one plate. Forced myself to have some dessert(well maybe forced is a bit to strong a word). If you know me well you'd know that is way out of the norm. I used to go in for at least a 4 plate minimum and that doesn't include dessert.

Weight update too. 99kg!!!!!! Fucking stoked. I'd left it for a while, weigh ins, just to see how far I gotten. Im aiming for 90kg so Im happy as!

Edit: put on some weight over xmas so pretty stoked that its getting me back in shape so quickly. -
I was always the same Raz - get your moneys worth. There is a place in Mount Maunganui - Kwang Chows or something, good cheap chinese tucker, all you can eat. I always wanted to take prop cyril in there with me and eat them empty. Couldn't now, that is for sure!

UNder three figures is always a landmark, well done.

And maybe I need an ab circle pro so I can exercise my abs without killing my hernia! -
I was surprised initially getting under the ton the first two weeks i got it and then too find i had shed my xmas excess so quickly is very rare indeed.

i'm slowly finding that the "living to eat" lifestyle i have lived the last 30 years really isn't for me. I love my food, no two ways about it. But the routine I've gotten myself into is fun. That is the biggest part of it I suppose.

As with bodybuilding where you are fine tuning particular parts of youre body (see Pumping Iron for the best explanation) Im doing the same with my diet. It's like a science experiment.

Dearest mods: any chance of changing thread name to Fat busting/Ab circle? -
Okay. Got up today and had a bacon, tomato, egg and mushroom sandwich for breakfast and felt like taking on the world.

remembering that there is a 7's parade on today in the city(starting about now) I thought I'd go for mighty big run and enjoy what ever scenery was on display... of the female kind not the rugby players!

Feeling pretty good now went up Thorndon quay, down the water front, Kent tce, Adelaide rd past the retirement home that is Athletic Park and down to island bay. That might be the norm for some guys but that's huge for me.

When I say Im feeling good I mean Im spent! Was pretty good as I met the mrs down at the beach and went for a swim. Not quite up to running back just yet so got a lift back. That bit sounds a bit poofy really...

Im determined to get fit. I got dared into doing a triathlon a year back and I was given 2 years to get in shape for it( a long time I know but given my professional schedule then it was not leaving me much time to train).

Never really got going though but this year is the year boys!!!
