Auckland vs Waikato

I see the B team is playing Waikato B as the curtain raiser

Looks a little weak? Players being held back for other teams?

    1. Nephi Leatigaga (Mt Wellington)

    2. Blake Hill (Eden)

    3. James Lay (Pakuranga)

    4. Ben Nee Nee (Pakuranga)

    21. Liam Steel (University)

    22. Rodrigo Costa (Eden)

    Two from Eden!! Woohoo!

  • Auckland Bs ahead 24-13 at HT

Waikato played the better rugby for most of the half though.

The Auckland lock Moala scored the last try. Any relation?

  • Auckland B wins 37-23

    Dominant last 20 from them

Kaifa had mixed game when he subbed on. Good with ball in hand but too many errors to push for a spot in the real 23

  • @Duluth Not sure, but they did go to different schools if that is any real indication. He's been around for a while in the club scene.

  • Not surprised in the slightest that Auckland are getting demolished.

  • Akira Ioane a man amongst boys out there.

  • @KiwiMurph Yes we've been average for most of the season and are very reliant on Akira Ioane.

Had to laugh at our scrum. Isi Tu'ungafasi rightly getting subbed. He's not up to this level.

  • Since when are you allowed to be in front of the kicker at a penalty?

    That was ridiculously blatent.

Happened for the winning penalty for Wgn v CM the other night too.

the refs dont seem to pull players up for being in front of the kicker for restarts or penalties very often anymore....

  • This ref is a shocker. Misses a blatant Waikato knock on. Jono Hickey is also a shocker. Right team is winning.

    I agree

bad miss, but Waikato deservedly in front.

Also, I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

That was the feeling of your heart growing three sizes.

  • Good grief. This is a pretty shabby Waikato side. I'm gobsmacked we won away.

Always like to beat the old foe.

  • Exciting finish. Tuipulotu and Akira really created havoc at the end.

Right result though - Waikato were the better side.

  • Deserved winners Waikato Auckland very poor as we have been all season. Our back 3 is awful without Nanai and Visinia. All Elkington Mcdonald does is kick the fucken ball away. Get Fosita there for the time being. Don't know how Pasqualle Dunn is in the squad. We must really be struggling if he can get a gig. Ravouvou, although he has a bit of potential, really needs to use his smarts as he makes some really dumb decisions. Don't get me started on our 9/10 combinations.

We really are a poorly coached outfit who would be fighting relegation if Hawke's Bay weren't in our division.

  • Pleased to be able to finish that strongly considering it's the third game in a week, but we were poor for too many minutes in that game.

Hate the new laws, it was like brumbie-ball at times with 30odd uncontested rucks in a row.

Agreed. Auckland weren't really in the game until Uhila was binned late in the 1st half. Good to get a win after being thrashed in this clash in recent years.

A good comeback by Auckland, which was helped in part by Waikato's passive defence in the last 10 mins, and these new breakdown laws. Not a fan at all.

  • Can't say enough about Akira, the guy is a phenom. At the moment, he's leading the comp in carries, linebreaks, defenders beaten and metres gained. He's also one tackle off from being in the top 10 tacklers in the comp. I feel like he needs a break with how much work he's gotten through so far this season, but at the same time, we're toast without him.

The person who said Tyrone Elkington-McDonald was like Simon Hickey wasn't lying. He is pretty average....which probably means he'll be our 10 next year, as well as our captain.😒
