The Fern's heaviest bloke - Doing something about it,
-
mate - that's fantastic. Keep it up. Don't get too into the drink - your mates should understand.

20kgs!! That's a lot. I've lost that and a little more since January and keep trying to relate it back to things. For instance its two of my middle son (he weighs about 11kgs) and he's bloody heavy to carry.
Aim for 120kg. I'll meet u there and head downwards... I hope. Fuck I'm fucked....
ahhhh NTA, I remember when you said that to me some months ago..... -
My timing for my 40th aint the best, but i got 100 people coming on Saturday night and only a few know i've had the op, so it will be very hard, especially as it takes me about 45 minutes to drink a bottle of beer ,the chances of getting blind are slim.
My skulling days are over ( i was very good at it) . I hope the boys will understand . I am only allowed 30mls per mouthful of liquid at a time so Tequila shots it is. -
Drinking piss is overrated anyway mate. I dont want to end up like an old dude with a judges nose and gout. Ive sunk a tonne of piss back in the day and do still go out on the piss once a month or so ( my kids put a stop to my heavy boozing weekends). Im almost ashamed to admit I quite often prefer a good coffee over a beer thesedays. Good luck with your recovery, sounds like you are doing great.

:nta True. The main issue I'm having lately is I go outside in the cold to do a workout, and Little Aussie comes with me. Then I get the speech from the Mrs about "Don't keep him out there too long, I don't want him getting sick".

The solution is obviously to get a better wife :nta -

To put up with you?...i doubt it Nick....doubt it very very much..

fbb good to hear you are serious about your health and obeying the 'rules'. Going to be a big test with your party coming up.
Might pay to let a few more mates know whats going on so your not going to be pressured to drink up. -
I am losing 1.5kg per week , current weight is 154 kg. Would have been better but put on 2kg during the 3 day binge that was my 40th birthday - no regrets though.
-
Cheers Bart , i want to be about 140kg by the October long weekend in OZ (NRL grand final weekend), so after that will give Cyril a nudge for the heaviest bloke on the fern, unless he reads this and decides to drop a few himself. Doing 25 minutes a day , 5 days a week on bike and eating the equivilent of about 3 entree size meals a day.
If i eat to quick , it all comes back up after about 15 minutes of pain so am working hard to train myself to slow down. Plenty of failures so far , especially after having a beer or two, coming home and taking a couple of quick bites. It is a massive learning curve but am quite happy so far, giving myself 7/10 , with a "could do better". -

Thanks , saw the surgeon today and had the band tightened to about 1 cm opening. He reckons that i should only lose 0.5 -0.75 kg per week as that is the best speed of weight loss. He also said that one bloke lost 10kg per month and they had to open up the band because to quick a weight loss can lead to muscle deterioration and other problems.
I just want to lose weight as quick as possible and it is hard to have any patience .
I must exercise more!!! -
What a great thread to read from beginning. Good on ya mate.

Understandable, but when your body has been on a Big Lad regime for a long time, you'd be surprised how easy it is for it to break down. -
good news i am finally below 150kg - current weight 149.2kg, i have lost 3 kg in the last fortnight. Will post an update photo in the next couple of days, can now fit my old 42" jeans for the 1st time in 4 years.
Total weight loss so far 31kg in 15 weeks.
Bad news is that i have been throwing up every 2nd or 3rd meal as i still struggle to eat slow enough and chew each mouthful for 1 minute . I put it down to being a slow learner and having had to compete with 2 older brothers growing up and eating as quick as you can, so you don't miss out.
On days when i have a beer or four, ,i don't even worry about eating because after the op i have found it impossible to combine the two. I have discovered a new diet craze - eat for 5 days and drink all you want for 2. Works well for me
