FatBusting : BartMan log.
-
well my third run tonight before gym, and enjoying it. On the forestry roads in the bush around Whangamata, so is up hill and down, sod all flat stuff, but good fun. Have not run weighing in under 100lg for 20 years, and enjoying it.

First run went out and up hills for 20 minutes, back down in 14. Second run was going to do a loop, but took a wrong turn, and did a bigger loop - 55 minutes, and still enjoyed it!!

TOnights run anohter 20 minute out job. made my last 20 minute mark in 17 and a half minutes, and back down the hill in 33 odd minutes - so went further, quicker, and was actually running as opposed to that damn plod that most of us would know so well!!

Gyming pretty much every night of the week, deadlifts, squats, bench press and shoulder press the staple here, and rowing at least 5k a day too, 10 on the days I am not running.

so, enjoying running, never thought I would see the day!! -
I can smell an injury defying comeback!!!
-
Glad to hear you other fellas are getting into running, I did a few years ago did not help me lose any weight but I found it a great way to get fit and after the inital hatred of it I began to love it, now I get shitty when I cant get enough runs in during the week. Like at the moment. Give us some distances as well as times so we have an idea how you are really getting on.

Mooshld -
no idea as to distances, will have to get Prop Cyril and a four wheel drive and clock the routes. Reckon the body will be able to handle 3 runs a week before kneew / anlkes / hips / backs pack up!!

Walked the track this morning, it takes 12 minutes to walk to the top of the first hill before you start running over the hill tops.

So walked in for 20 minutes, and then walked back, and it is harder to walk downhill than to run, but I walked, as I am enjoying the running, and don't want to over do it and be physically unable to do it!!

Then gym'd, doing light squats, bench, shoulder press and db curls.

So Cyril, you 'owe' me one... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> -
still rowing, still running, still doing weights. Just a lot less rowing at the moment, too damn hot.

Still, weight down to 93.1 - from a game high 120 three years or so ago.

rowed a PB 2k time today of 6:33.7.

Rob and Mahi had better watch out... :2funny: -

Good to hear your back into it Bart, I was worried you may have fallen off the wagon for a while there. Im waddling along at the moment in an attempt to run. Im timing my run so come the middle of the second round when there will be no fit props left in TA Im going to be lethal. -
lol. Yeah, it's all about the timing RB!!

Whangamata take on Tairua this Friday in first hoit out of season. Prop Cyril weighing in at 118 at the moment, from a game high of 150 odd last season. He won't know what hit him Saturday. All that extra running and work he is going to be able to do!!

Running still sucks, but being lighter, it hurts the body less, and is almost enjoyable. Al,most. -

NPC Valley comeback for Cyril on the cards for 2008? -
sounds like a great place to run BM - off the roads and in a bit of nature always makes for a more interesting run (if you're not looking for that lung you just coughed up!!).

I know exactly what you mean regarding running after having lost weight - crazy how much lighter on your feet you feel!

don't know whether it's worth checking out but you might be able to get an idea of how long your run is by using www.mapmyrun.com - even if the tracks etc aren't on maps you can switch it to 'hybrid' mode and it overlays a photo of the area from google earth.

good effort from both of you lads - always sparks a bit of interest when the lads on TSF are getting their mojo running for rugger season! -
yeah, paek, amazing how much easier - as Red BEard is finding out too if you read his thread.

Still training, rowing, running and weights. Contstantly in the 93-94 weight range now, not much more to lose, and been firing in plenty of squats and deadlifts (can't benchpress, fucked shoulder), so there shoud be some muscle mass going on aw well as the fat coming off.

Bloody deadlifts are almost aerobic, and have just started some power cleans and some clean and presses, which are aerobic. All good to get the heart pumping anyway!!

and also have dug a trench over the last week through Mar and Par Bartley's graden for a new telephone cable, saving a grand Mr Telecom man reckons. Now that is good exercise, forgot what it was like to be on the bliseter end of a shovel, but soon got back into mode, reminded me of my plumbing days straight out of school - more so when I was using the same bloody trenching shovel!! -
Still training! But getting my shoulder sorted out at physio and doing lots of piss arse little cable exercises - is getting better though, so that is good, but a long road to go. Have been running with Mrs BartMan some mornings too, along with the rowing and 6kg side arm cable pull things!!Â
-
The rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated... Or something.

Anyway, not dead, still training. Rowing two 5k bursts a day between 18:20 and 18:40, and doing 3 or 4 weights sessions.

Shoulder getting closer to being tip top. Feel a bit of a pain in BOTH (not just right, the one that was seriously bung) shoulders the morning after a decent shoulder or chest workout, so still going softly softly on those two body parts, but getting up to full noise on the legs and back - based on squats and dead lifts.

Finally got back to a 100kg bench press on Monday night, only 5 reps for 1 set, but a start. built up to the weight, and then pyramided back down again.

Still doing the piss arse shoulder exercises once a week too - the stabiliser exercises. Think I will do those for ever - an insurance thing.

Weight back down to 96 after almost topping the ton again after Cruise a month or two back!!

That is all!!

Oh, and have now clocked 12 million 1 hundred thousand metres on the rower!! -
Running. Now that Mrs BartMan and the BartMan clan is all ensconced in Whangamata (anyone need any beauty tratments while in Whangamata, you know who to call), I have started running with Mrs BartMan, and rowing has fallen away. SO Hooroo will know the run - we have been doing that track you and I went over.

Down to a best time of 41:32 now (this morning). Mrs BartMan was gunning it this morning, but has still not been able to make it up to the top of the second climb without a stop - when it comes, look out!

Have also been gyming 3 times a week, with a couple of 20 minutes rows thrown in their for good measure. Touch on Friday's for the Uzbekistan Crocs (sponsored by Croc shoes). Currently undefeated, out bard of 'rugby touch' (spin it wide and let the ball beat the man) proving hard to beat...

So will start listing the times, of the 'Hooroo Run', as that seems to be the main activity at the moment. Going to try and cracnk throuhg three a week - depends on how knees / ankles hold out running 3 times a week for 40 minutes - or rather 30, taking away the first ten minute walk up the hill!!

Monday 27 October: 'HR' 43:48
Friday 31 October: 'HR' 43:28
Tuesday 4 november 'HR' 41:32

OH, and readin gmy first post on this thread back in 2006 - February, when I was 105kg. Now back to 95 again (after cruise eating binge).
OK, so it was 95.9, but I only deal in whole numbers... -
been crook over the weekend and exercised for the first time this morning. THe Hooroo run, without the Mrs.

Wednesday 12 November: 'HR' 40:12.68 might have to start adding the hundreth of seconds as times will be getting harder to beat as I get fitter... -
been a slow week - 40 minute walks each morning with Mrs BartMan, who is also recovering from flu. Also weights x 3 after today for the week. Weight this morning 96.0 on the nose - gained 100g, I whould have squeezed a little harder on the shitter this morning...
