4 & 5. Locks of the Year 2016

  • Please nominate for Lock(s) of the year.

    Rules in main forum.

All arguments for and against encouraged and in fact required during nomination phase.

Surname First Name Country Pros Cons
RETALLICK Brodie NZL Nominated by Paul Cully in SMH; "certainty"
ITOJE Maro ENG Nominated by Paul Cully in SMH; "fantastic" "fantastic" but Whitelock better
WHITELOCK Samuel NZL "Certainty"; without peer in combination with BBBR; underrated ball carrying; massive work rate
COLEMAN Adam AUS Big, aggressive; bends the line, hurts people, good at core roles over aggressive at times

  • Wow this so easy. BBBR and Sam.

    I have done 15, 10, 4 and 5. Not even contentious.

To get all Eddie - 26.67% of the work already done for the rest of you.

  • Itoje needs consideration. To break through the way he has in what is a very competitive area for England and to go through the year unbeaten in his starting games is something. Chicago showed what Retallick and Whitelock mean to NZ and A-W Jones continues to shine for Wales. Jonny Grey has been a revelation for Scotland too.

  • @Catogrande Yeah...all of them considered.

    BBBR and Sam.🏆

I may be slightly biased though.

  • Adam Coleman. A baby in Test terms. Big, aggressive, bends the line and hurts people. Also good at his core roles of lineout and scrum.

Just needs to pick his moments for the aggression a bit more.

  • Retallick. Itoje.
