Talking of shameless political gain Winston has once again left Little in the shadows again and is insisting the govt wants to block the mine because it's a crime scene and they know an examination will lead to criminal convictions . What a shabby little drunken cretin he is. His mining experience was in the late 60s so I fail to see the relevance.
It's worth pointing out that as of April the 1st this year a whole bunch of safety regulations were put in place and penalties including fines and jail sentences specifically because of Pike river.

Barry Soper suggests that if Winston wants to be the first one in the government should let him be the canary. I wonder what he would say to that?

@Crucial He is a very adept political survivor
Is he what! I think cockroaches recently sent a delegation to him for tips.
According to my cousin who used to work at Bellamy's he is a very good tipper. The later into the evening the bigger the tips!!

@MajorRage except if it turns out it is perfectly safe, and he comes out a hero....

Talking to a few coasters that are mates, they apparently only want to go into the 'Drift' to recover what is thought to be 3-6 bodies. The drift is relatively 'safe' apparently.
They agree it's a nonsense to think that they should go into mine proper to retreive others.
I asked what the story was in terms of teh communities down there rahter than the actual families themselves and that is the general feeling

@Hooroo wouldn't that make it worse, recovering some bodies, but not all?
I don't know. I don't really have an opinion on it. Was just interested in what the locals thought rather than media and internet

@Hooroo yeah I just wonder if that might cause division in the community with some getting their family back and some not...?
Whinny making hay

Pike River protesters told to bugger off and their activites are illegal. I suspect they want police dragging them away on camera preferably if they can get someone like John Campbell to come down and cover only their side of the story.

Really good doco on Prime last night about the recovery project. I don't even know if it was a repeat and I had missed it previously or something that was 'under-promoted'.
Was excellent. Very informative and kept real rather than play on emotions/tradgedy.
