Shitty Australian Boxing

Tonight, at the Adelaide Oval, there will be some shitty Australian boxing.
Danny Green and Anthony Mundine will square off for a re-match 11 years after Mundine won the underwhelming first fight. Both blokes are now in to their 40s, Mundine weighed in at 79.6, Green at 82.9.
Mundine has done his usual shit to make sure he creates a siege mentality, Green trying to be the Aussie every man. I won't be watching, but i imagine the PPV numbers will be okay as a bunch of guys buy it to see if Mundine can get knocked the fuck out
The best part of evening will be Quade's fight. He's fighting a guy who looks like won a beer promotion
seriously, look at the rig on that bloke!! It's worse than mine!
Apparently he has 55 kick boxing fights under his belt, but his pro boxing record is an incredible 0-2
Bigger joke than the drainage at McLean
-
In an odd kind of universal logic, Quade is missing the Rugby Tens to fight a Ten year old kid with a Ten kilo weight problem.
And I hope the kid drops Quade to teach him he should stop fucking around and play rugby. He's not SBW.
-
Quade is actually much better than you'd think, much like Carlos Spencer. I think it probably pisses people off to admit that.
-
Not saying he isn't - in fact, he was very generous with his time during the NRC here, even at away games. He's learned a lot.
But needs to stop fucking around with boxing.

@MN5 at what?

He's very good at stealing things.
Liam Messam is another bloke who's a more than handy boxer.

But like Spencer i think because both were/are a bit gunshy on defence sometimes they'd be shit at boxing. Far from the truth, Spencer was awesome. Imagine the hiding he'd give Merhts for example.

I can see how it looks that way but Maori fullas always waste white guys
Particularly when they're pudgy and have bowl cuts. Merhts brand of non physical rugby set the standard for Ronan O'gara who took the mantle wonderfully....
Somehow I can't see him beating Awen Guttenbiel and Jarrod McCracken and holding his own against Monty Betham.

Well based on that logic SBW is only a rung above them on the ladder if he's lucky.

Quade's handler (I presume it's Nasser) has an iron grip understanding of the fight game.
You won't get a world title shot with many losses on your record, so you can't take too many risks in your build-up.

I find it odd that more feral NZ rugby fans aren't up in arms about SBW being so matey with QC.
Well, maybe if I joined Twitter and instagram and all those cool apps then I'd hear more about it.
-
@MN5 Probably run out of legs after his already being mates with Nasser and Mundine.
Though I was shocked to hear that those two had fallen out.
-
Is that Mehrts that quade is fighting?
Hard to take it seriously with that shit.
I hope mundine gets knocked out. Would be nice to see him not running his mouth for once. Although i do feel sorry for him sometimes when watching him speak. Obviously not many braincells still operational up there.Having said that im not going to watch it.
Got better things to do like constantly reloading TSF to see if it makes the rugby season start sooner. -
Here's a bit of fun viewing of Mundine in the meantime!
-
Apparently the bloke is a plasterer. He took the fight 2 weeks ago, then chucked it in when it was clear he couldn't drop the required 13kg in 2 weeks. The promoters then allowed him to come in at 99kg, and he weighed in at 96-odd.
His trainer reckons the two weeks of training is more than he has had for his previous two fights. He's only taken it on to give Quade someone to fight.

Oh, Betoota Advocate, you never fail to amuse...

TKO to Quadey. Haven't seen details but I guess the chubby kid walked into the ring, tucked a cheque in his waistband and walked off?
-
Apparently the kid took a smacking, lasted into the second round until Cooper put him away then tried to catch him before he hit the deck.
What a farce.
-
My facebook feed has been full of people live streaming the fight. Seems like Foxtel is watching too, taking note of the names on the profiles and looking down their list of people who paid for the channel and bang they cut it off. Pretty stupid to do something like that with your name right next to it.

He can only fight the bloke in the opposite corner. Boxing has no depth in Australia, so for your third fight, you're really only going to get some donkey. Cooper had a reach advantage and has spent a decade training as a professional athlete. What is he supposed to do?
The ref should have ended it earlier. It was clear McInnes wasn't boxing.

Exactly what is the point of these kind of fights? Is it the money or is there a genuine interest in having some kind of boxing career?
This would be like getting the world's best boxers (all of whom have some prior involvement with rugby) giving them a couple of months of intensive, elite training, then sending them onto the field to play against a team of Filipino cleaners.
In Kwades case he didn't even fight a donkey, but some kind of stillborn wombat.

They reckon Green and mundine pocketed 10 mill each ,
That is unbelievable given their standing in world boxing right now ,
they milked the Australian public beautifully with their supposed grudge ,
I know people who have seen them joking and laughing together .

You can tar SBW with that brush too to some extent. Joseph Parker would fuck his shit up, no two ways about it. It's genuinely like Parker deciding to have a season of Rugby, if he had a crack I could picture him being a more than useful blindside/No8/2nd five but his absolute limit would be Auckland club rugby at whatever level.

That's what they were aiming for , but have since heard it will not be that much, 6-8 ,
Second highest pay per view figures in Australia , second to Mundine green 1 .
Pretty sure Mundine geale , and Mundine soliman were 3 and 4 ,
Says everything about the marketing value of a villain doesn't it ?

Yep, Ali knew that better than anyone.
Still seems incredible that 2 40 year olds could bring in that kind of cash. Impressive.

What were the results from the weekend? Did Mundine win? Quade as well?

There is no way they came even close to getting 10 mlll each. Lets do some basic maths.
28,000 watched live .. .average of what ... 100 a ticket maybe? Thats 2.8mm. Which leaves 17.2mm. It was 60 AUD a throw for the ppv ... so you'd need 290,000 orders of that, just to hit the purse for the main fight.
And this would mean no payment for Buffer, the venue, the undercard, security etc etc .
If they took 3mm each, I'd be surprised. Nobody gave a shit about this fight outside of Australia.
