The Blues Under-20 team complete their campaign with an international clash against Argentina Under 20s tonight at Waitemata Rugby Club in Henderson. Kick off is at 7pm.

The visitors are on a three-match tour of New Zealand, playing against the Hurricanes, Blues and Chiefs in preparation for the World Rugby Under-20 Championship in Tbilisi, Georgia later in the year.

The Blues team includes current senior team representative Stephen Perofeta, who played for the New Zealand Under-20s last year, and has just returned after an early-season injury. The first-five played brilliantly for the Blues A team in his first game back against the Chiefs on Saturday.

The team is led by Dalton Papalii, who also played for the New Zealand Under-20s at the World Championship in 2016.

There is some strong Blues family connections with three players whose fathers played for the Blues comprising Caleb Clarke (father Eroni Clarke), Hoskins Sotutu (father Waisake Sotutu) and TJ Vaega (father To’o Vaega) and younger brother of current Blues player Matt Vaega.

Another family link is Wiseguy Faiane who is younger brother of TJ Faiane, who made his Blues debut at the weekend.

    The Blues Under-20 team is:

    1. Ezekiel Lindenmuth,
    2. JP Sauni
    3. Afioga Ielemia
    4. Cameron Saufoa
    5. Sam Slade
    6. Hoskins Sotutu
    7. Dalton Papalii (C)
    8. Dylan Lam
    9. Lewis Gjaltema
    10. Stephen Perofeta
    11. Siave Togoiu
    12. Tanielu Tele’a
    13. Nikolai Foliaki
    14. Caleb Clarke
    15. TJ Vaega.

    Replacements:

    1. Charles Napa’a
    2. Robert Cobb
    3. Jerry Samania
    4. John Akaula-Laula
    5. Adrian Choat
    6. Henry Saker
    7. James Little
    8. Loketi Manu
    9. Wiseguy Faiane
    10. Waimana Riedlinger-Kapa
    11. Penisoni Fineanganofo

  • Excellent to see Perofeta playing another game - more gametime can only be good for the youngster.

That looks like a very tidy backline on paper.
