Oh shit I just saw the new Shorten Labour ad.
Firstly it's pretty bullshit. But the end is all Australia First. Hilarious.
Western Democracy: slowly painting itself into a corner using the brush of populism.

I googled. Not found. Any link?

Keep that shit on the back burner - I only just caught up on this fabulous story about our politicians supporting jobs n growth in Australia
GEORGE Christensen is the latest politician to reveal his weight loss struggles, choosing to go under the knife in Malaysia in order to drop the kilos.
The 38-year-old weighed 176kg and is known as âBig Georgeâ among his colleagues â but maybe not for much longer.
The Queensland federal Nationals MP spoke about his radical surgery in Malaysia to remove 85 per cent of his stomach after returning to Australia this week.
âThe last couple of years I really began to notice the health impacts of being overweight,ââ the MP told The Australian.
âAnd when you reach the size I did, exercise just becomes Âexcruciating.
âI eventually found this company â they specialise in this sort of procedure â and last month I went over to Kuala Lumpur and underwent the surgery.â
Mr Christensen joked that it âsounds like I went to Malaysia for a boob jobââ and he did have misgivings about the procedure.
âWhen I was being wheeled into surgery I thought about reaching out from the gurney and holding onto to the door jambs to stop me going into the operating room.â
But Mr Christensen did go through with the surgery, losing 5kg during the procedure and another five since. He is expected to lose about 80kg in the next 18 months thanks to the Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy operation.
It involved turning his stomach from a âball into a sleeveâ and then putting a gastric ring on it so it canât expand.
Mr Christensen said he had tried âevery diet under the sunâ but has piled on the kilos since he won the seat of Dawson in 2010 thanks to the politicianâs lifestyle of constantly being on the road and rarely eating at home.
Thanks to the surgery he will only be able to eat four to five spoonfuls of food, five or six times a day, for the rest of this life.
âI wanted to ensure, like my grandfather, I could reach 96 years of age,â he said.
âBut at the rate I was going, I wasnât going to reach half of it. I was on my way to giving the Turnbull government a by-election if I didnât undergo the surgery.ââ
Mr Christensen is not the only politician to publicly battle with his weight. Former Palmer United Party leader Clive Palmer has shed almost 60kg in eight months, dropping from 153kg to less than 95kg.
Mr Palmer has attributed his weight loss to LiteâN Easy meals and portion control.

Sounded like he'd tried everything other than applying some will power and commitment to not overeating!

If only he'd had a salad option...

Salad is a bloody foreign concept!
George sticks to good, Aussie food. Like pizza and dim sims.

@booboo it was on TV mate. Fucking rubbish ad, but at least it sounds like policy (if a little misguided).
But the end is the key. Australia first is the new jobs and growth. It's said at least 3 times, and it's in big fucking letters taking up half the page. So predictable.

Yes, those bastard voters just shoved them in his mouth. Poor bugger.
Actually this kind of shit really pisses me off. A guy like that literally doesn't need to pay a cent for food. He can get the best, healthy food delivered straight to his snout. He could also probably charge the taxpayer for a top personal trainer and dietician.
Same age as me too, disgraceful gluttonous carnt.

I hope his stomach sleeve isn't on a 457...

It's fucking clever is what it is. What with all the other parties running around saying Australia last...

Havent had the displeasure of seeing the Shorten ad and looks like I never will because it has been binned for causing offence. The grievous crime? Lack of diversity of course:

@Rancid-Schnitzel Not sure about the statistic, but
-
And in some more immigrant bashing:
Analysis requested from the Parliamentary Budget Office by Senator David Leyonhjelm has revealed that 870,000 non-citizens are claiming $15 billion a year in welfare benefits.
John Wanna, a professor of public policy at Australian National University, said Australia was one of the most generous countries in the OECD for payments to non-citizens. âWeâre one of the few in the OECD where somebody who doesnât work can go straight on to benefits,â he said, noting that in Europe access to social insurÂance was often predicated on prior Âcontributions.
British citizens made up the largest share of the total, at 170,000, followed by Africa and the Middle East (90,000) and China (50,000). âBefore 1949 everyone here was simply a British subject,â said Professor Wanna. New Zealanders who arrived before 2001 are eligible for welfare. -

I think 90% of the Population is of European descent. I guess that classifies as white.
There was also nobody in a wheelchair or an obvious transperson. The humanity!!!!!

You're all so homophobic. How many in the ads were gay? You don't know. You've assumed sexuality.

The big joke about all of this nationalistic posturing is that the moment commodity prices go back up and Aussies can just dig another hole in the ground to make money all of these 'cares' get thrown away.
It is said that true personality comes out under pressure and everytime there is economic pressure in Australia the xenophobic tendencies come racing forward. -
That ad was perfect for the demographic it was aimed at. And they'll also eat up this "pc gone mad" that got it pulled.

Hasn't it now backfired since Shorten folded like a bitch? If he'd told the permanently triggered to pull their heads in he would have come out of it bloody well, but now he's exposed himself as someone who caves into these idiots.
Just desserts I guess.

@Rancid-Schnitzel not sure really it's hard to say. The problem with trying to be populist is keeping up with what makes you popular.
Shorten is spineless though, that's never been in doubt
