The days seem to be melting in to one another. Still struggling with the very early starts but I think the body is slowly getting used to it.
Yesterday managed legs at lunchtime and then swim in the evening. Bloody tired this morning but back workout was ok. Difficult to find time for a run because the only time to run that isn't stinking farking hot is the very early mornings and they're either taken by swimming or driving. Hopefully will cool down a bit soon, although that will make the swimming a bit harder. At least the pool is heated.
So basically you're using two different weather extremes to make excuses
You got me there. It's not like I'm just going to admit being a soft cock.
It is too hot to run here during the day though. Not worth the risk.

and fair enough too
It's always either too hot of cold whenever I feel like going for a run I find.
But you can climb ropes in any weather right?

Where were we. So, arms Friday then swimming Saturday. Managed a run Sunday night which was a piece of piss compared to swimming. You can breathe the entire time which helps!
Back in the pool this morning. Gun session. Max efforts x10. First 10 metres, then 15, then 25. So 30 in all. In between we had to do ab and core exercises. Blasted after that but love that shit. Prefer it to endless laps.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel wtf? they have you doing stuff poolside in between laps?? that is too brutal!!

It's very rude, but tbh I prefer that to endless laps. Weekend was 400 freestyle then
100IM (butterfly, back, breast, fs) + 100 fs
100IM + 200fs
100IM + 300fs
100IM + 100fs +100IMFook that up the butt. I just can't cruise like I can with running. Had a gander at that swimming thread and the 9km lake swim....... No thanks.

@Rancid-Schnitzel oh yeah, swimming is full effort all the time... or you sink!!

7 days. Slack as shit, but at least not on the training.
Consistent now, although didn't manage to squeeze in a leg day last week which is pretty unforgivable. Really have to manage my time and sleep right if I want to have 3 swim, 4 weights and 1 run. Alot, but makes me feel good and that's the important thing. Also allows me to keep up with the PT girlfriend!
Sunday night seems to be run time now and belted out about 7km last night. Running is seriously a piece of piss with this aerobic fitness from swimming. You can just power along. Some dude ran past me last night. One of those Lycraclad tools with wires hanging everywhere. I rather unfairly took offence to that and kept him in my sights and then ran him down a couple of km later. He didn't like that, but he'd blown his load getting past me. Yes, ridiculously childish, but made for a good and focussed run.
Swimming this morning. Serious volume again today. About 2.5km all together. Felt really good after that.

@Rancid-Schnitzel shark in the water and on land!! noice!
ha ha I've been 'that' guy before - but I wasn't lycra clad or anything. I was being lazy during an uphill segment when I should have been going faster. Got passed by this old as fuck dude (should have known he was an enduro fucker!) and thought I'd 'drop the hammer', got past him easy as and pulled away. But the faster pace caught up to me about 1km down the line... then guess who sailed past at pretty much exactly the same pace? old man enduro. Shame, and a(nother) lesson about ego lol.
Somehow I think he's done that many times in his running career. To make matters worse I saw an article in the paper about him about a year later. He's a renowned distance runner in our area and does bloody well in age grade races and stuff.

You chose the wrong geriatric to mess with bro 😂.

Good stuff. Every time I think of running as boring, I'm reminded of doing laps...

My swimming trainer was talking about a new job he was considering and he was warned that it was very repetitive. His response was "Hello, I'm a swimmer,". Even the head coach here who won CG gold and made Olympic finals called swimming boring. Great training though!
-
I'll take running and laps over the hour on the bike trainer this morning. Although at least i watched ESPN.

Thats what I like about my time on the bike, at least can watch sport or netflix etc. Struggle to follow it when running on the treadmill.
When running on the street and trails etc I use to try and time it so could listen to a rugby or NRL game. Made it very easy to forget what I was doing and 40mins seemed to fly by quickly.

I really struggle using stationary bikes or treadmills. Now that is boring!
-
i found i couldn't watch anything i have to be involved in, as during real effort times my head was down (and my outside TV is pretty high), but the sports talk shows on ESPN (NFL Live and The Jump are always on) are perfect, and a game better.
I fucking sweat though, jesus. I do it outside, under a massive ceiling fan, and there is still a puddle on the tiles when i am finished.
Running with music is great though, although my preference is high energy trance or hard house, so you end up running too fucking fast.
-
@mariner4life Rage Against the Machine is in my running playlist!
Yeah I cant really focus on a TV show or anything, just audio or music videos you dont need ot be involved with.
I loathe road running, but really like running on trails (walking up the stairs part)

Reminds me of when I use to deliver pizzas listening to punk music in the car. My delivery rate per hour was always well ahead of everyone else
