2018 New Zealand U20s

  • @cgrant @MN5 saying Norm Maxwell had a great All Black career is also quite a stretch.

Yeah probably. He was good though

  • Argentina to host World Rugby U20 Championship 2019

Argentina, who are guaranteed a top six finish in the 2018 tournament in France, hosted the event in 2010 and Rosario and Santa Fe will once again host the future stars of rugby.

The 2018 Championship in France draws to a conclusion on Sunday but is on track to be the best-attended, most viewed and most socially-engaged event to date.

  • They've had great crowds this year in France. Tournamant must be close to paying for itself this year.

  • CITING COMMISSIONER WARNINGS

    Jay Renton (New Zealand)

New Zealand replacement Jay Renton was issued a Citing Commissioner Warning by Citing Commissioner Eugene Ryan (Ireland) for stamping in breach of Law 9.12 in the 58th minute of their World Rugby U20 Championship 2018 semi-final against France on 12 June, 2018 in Perpignan. The Citing Commissioner Warning forms part of Renton’s disciplinary record for the tournament

  • @stargazer Wow! That one seemed pretty black or white to me.

Either it was accidental or it was intentional and if the latter he would go for a significant skate.

Not sure where this shade of grey comes from.

    Another win for The Illuminati

  • Tele’a should be pissed off. His tackle was innocuous in comparison.

  • @chris-b Accidental or reckless or intentional. Intentional would always have been red. Accidental, would always be a penalty only or at most a YC. But when it's considered reckless, other factors come into play, such as whether Renton's foot made contact with the head and things like whether the player on the ground was moving.

It's really unfortunate that they don't always seem to publish the reasons for these warnings.

  • Thought in the semi, the BBs lacked punch (no pun intended) up front and incision at the back. Where were the big ball runners? Lost count of how many times the ball was stripped or dropped. Also our kicking game was poor. If you're going to kick, it should be pinpoint for your chasers to run on to and regather.
We looked very rugby=league like and not in a good way, fanning out too much on D. Hell. we just gave them too much ball, and we squandered our own opportunities.

You know I'm really beginning to dislike the French. Hopefully sunday morning we can wake up and still be talking abou the rugby played...

  • Baby boks finally wake up ... run it from their 22. 33-25 to Baby Boks with 15 mins to go. Tides have turned all due to a yellow card

  • NZ score in final movement of the game to lose 40-30 . It was 25-14 to NZ at one stage. Baby Boks scored 26 points in a row.

  • Results from the finals below:

  • Good by Georgia. Beating both Scotland and Ireland in that tournament and finishing above them.

6 Nations teams don't even include Georgia in their U20 tournaments, unlike what we bastions of the game do down here with the Oceania U20s.

The Celts, stifling rugby's growth since ages ago .......

  • How did I know Tom Christie was from Canterbury without looking it up? Because he looks 40 😅

Shouldn't he be from Fielding then?

  • Highlights from the finals:

    Ireland v Japan

    Scotland v Georgia

    Wales v Italy

    Argentina v Australia

    New Zealand v South Africa

  • Happy to see France won, although it appears none of us watched the final games. 😉
