Good to see Fatialofa back in the 23. The Canes will be a lot better when he can start in the second row, Fafita to 6 and Shields to 8

Proctor in his best position. Another poor game from Savea and I would expect Aso to take the starting wing spot off of him next round

  • Jaguares
15 Joaquin Tuculet, 14 Bautista Delguy, 13 Matias Orlando, 12 Bautista Ezcurra, 11 Emiliano Boffelli, 10 Nicolas Sanchez, 9 Gonzalo Bertranou,
8 Tomas Lezana, 7 Javier Ortega Desio, 6 Pablo Matera (c), 5 Matias Alemanno, 4 Marcos Kremer, 3 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro, 2 Agustin Creevy, 1 Felipe Arregui

Reserves: 16 Julian Montoya, 17 Javier Diaz, 18 Juan Pablo Zeiss, 19 Guido Petti, 20 Juan Martin Leguizamon, 21 Martin Landajo, 22 Juan Martin Hernandez, 23 Sebastian Cancelliere

  • Is Christie injured? Can't understand why they have picked Booth over him.

  • @akan004 Really? Whenever I've seen Booth he's been impressive.

Small sample, but I'd pick him over Christie and I'm a Tasman Supporter.

I think he got injured during the Brisbane 10s.

That's more like it. The selections for the first game were a disaster. So the loss might not be such a bad thing as the coaches collectively completely lost the plot last week. Not only with selections but also replacements. Hopefully they have now righted this

Although Savea (J) must be on his last chance. He just made up the numbers last week. And Lam needs to show he's up to this level. He's fast but not much more. And hopefully JGB steps up. I don't want to see West on the field again this year. He's a great example of everything that was wrong with the Canes in the past.

He did. after reports that he was one Canes player that really stepped up

In fairness Booth had an awesome Brisbane 10s too

  • Line-outs are shit so far in this game. That was a horrible throw from Riccitelli.

  • Good try from Lam, but all the work was done by Evans, who made a great break.

  • Laumape bulldozes over. Hurricanes lead 12-3.

Gareth Evans is one of the best players on the field.

  • Canes playing canes rugby ... they will be intercepted soon for sure.

Jags discipline is woeful with the canes not far behind ... ball security is terrible as well.

    Laumape owning it so far

  • Fark me both sides chucking it around ... canes are going for tries in every single play, regardless of field position

  • Julian Savea is currently a 1/10 rating ... woeful

  • J Savea is looking like that mate who fills in when you are short of numbers for a club cricket game. Can't bowl, can barely hold a bat and couldn't catch a beach ball.
Crazy the cliff he has fallen off from being the best winger in the world.

  • They should just ditch Julian. Aso to the right wing and finally Lowe to the bench. Lowe not getting a single opportunity is driving me mad. This was a game to introduce him to SR.

  • At what fucking point are the canes going to realize that you need to get points.

Tits for hands, woeful ball rentention, woeful discipline. Such a frustrating game to watch

  • If the Canes play like this next week, they will be crushed even by an injury stricken Crusaders team. Don't know what's wrong with the Canes but they're not looking good.

Now Aso on for Jordie. Hope that was a planned sub and not an injury.

  • Finally, the bus gets into a higher gear and Proctor scores a try.

  • And Julian savea busts 5 tackles and sets up a try ....

    Fair play!!

I’ve just switched the TV on to see him in beast mode creating that try.
Hopefully he keeps up that kind of form rather than the form you mentioned...

  • Ben May, you tool! So stupid, completely unnecessary yellow.

  • Aso: That's mine;
    Proctor: No, that's mine.
    Aso: MINE!

  • Fatialofa is on for Fifita.

Then that mate takes a screamer......but will probably drop the next 5 easy ones.

  • Messy game this. Jaguares are useless.

  • Decent BP win in the end for the Canes.
To be fair yo Julian Savea he was 1000% better in the second half.
Still can't understand how Ben May gets paid to play rugby let alone start fora Super rugby team.

  • Game of 2 halves for the bus alright ...

Dodgy game plan, terrible ball retention .... 5 tries to nil.

    Yeah what do I know

That wasn't easy to watch. Fark the Haguaraieieiees are crap. Canes not much better, despite a few flashes of brilliance. They'll get arse raped if they don't tighten that shit up.

Second half Savea was pretty damn good. More of that please. Ben May is a massive unit with no brain. Farking Neanderthal retard.

Early days, but I'm a wee bit worried about this season.

  • @rancid-schnitzel It's almost as if the Canes have taken over the "slow starter bug" from the Saders.

Maybe Chris Boyd is getting out just in time at his max value?

Maybe, but they always had 12 plus allblacks who were still in off-season mode.

There is 2016 to think about, which was a much worse start. Fingers crossed, but I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far.

    @canefan
I really hope it won't be one of THOSE seasons. They suck the most. You just want the season to end, but then can look forward to the rebuilding process that in the Hammett years never ended and for the poor Blues has been going on for about a decade. Plumtree looks to be a top coach though, so we should be OK.

  • Canes were awful in the first half. Luckily the Jaguares were even more awful.

Julian was terrible (1/10 performance) in the first half but came right in the 2nd. Ben lam looked good in the first but was quiet in the 2nd. Both Barrett's are class. Thank god we have them both. Laumape had another good game.

JGB was only on for 10 minutes but he looked class. I just hope he can obtain his excellent NPC form from last season. He's an aggressive powerful first and this aspect of his game needs to be developed. His one negative is a lack of speed but hopefully the team have worked on this. He did keep up with play well with the one line break.

Eves is not a starting prop. We need JTA back with Fidow as the impact TH (he has lost weight from last years NPC. And he lost weight for the NPC so is at a good weight now). And then either May or Smith can start with Eves as the impact LH. Otherise we will be smashed against the better scrummaging teams.

I'm hopeful next week as long as the scum can be sorted. This bench was good but Aumua is needed back

  • And I like the look of the home jersey. as opposed to the poncy jersey they wore last week

  • JGB looked class doing what exactly?

His line punting was embarrassing, final goal kick a shocker, not sure what he did in those ten minutes?

Jules should get his French phrase book out. One bullocking run does not make up for the shower of shit he was in the first half.

I thought Ardie looked very fit and sharp FWIW.

Hurricanes need to stop the Harlem Globetrotters game plan and try to play some solid rugby.

Hard to believe this team won the title 2 seasons back on what they showed out there today.

I never saw the game but based on what I saw at ITM cup last year JGB is a journeyman at best so far. Didn't stand out at all and often inhibited our backline

  • @canefan I saw most of the game but also wanted to add a comment about a hurricane's play in itm cup.

I couldn't come up with anything.

Didn't look very fit either. Looked like a pub player. IMHO West is the better sub.

  • How was Julian? Looked shocking at the 10s
