What are you listening to, right now................
I love all of them Red, but for me AG is the best.

Likewise, there is only one Queen - the Queen of soul - and Aretha is her name.

I saw AG at the Albert Hall - we shook hands. I was moved.
My preference is the High Priestess of Soul: Nina Simone. But that's all it is - my preference.

I love the classic line that John Peel delivered on Top of the Pops when Aretha did her duet with George Michael:

"You know, Aretha Franklin can make any old rubbish sound good, and I think she just has." -

She couldn't sing a wrong note if she wanted to. -

Some pretty good drumming in that not quite Danny Carey but nice. -
Pacific Eardrum. NZ-Canadian Jazz group formed in London in late '70's. Dave McRae, Isaac Guillory & Billy Kristian were in the group. Seriously good musicians. One of my old LP's I've cleaned up and transferred to CD,
Brilliant stuff. I miss rock bands like these, and these two in particular. Still remember driving from Noosa to Brisbane in a clapped out VL half baked with my brother at some ungodly hour rocking out to Spoonman and Epic. -
Spent most of the weekend working, and had Buddy Holly rolling in a continuous loop for most of it. Fabulous songwriter, and those short snappy rockabilly numbers help make the time fly.

In my opinion, Buddy was the real king of rock 'n roll. Shame we didn't hear so much more from him.

The 1st non negro to get a standing ovation at the Appolo theatre, after they booed him when he 1st walked out onto stage. -
Right now, at this minute, i'm listening to this:
Probably the best lazy summer afternoon relax song ever written.

If you can listen to this and honestly say you dislike it, i'll buy you a pie. -

Some pretty wild backstage stories about him too. Totally at odds with the geeky white guy image that was portrayed, the man was a sexually deviant animal by some accounts. -

See, I always thought that he was the true king.
Look at what he started for all others to follow in his footsteps. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
Best to avoid eating felafels when viewing this. The guy who "He Died With a Felafel in His Hand" was watching this exact same viddie when he, prosaically enough, died with a felafel in his hand.

(Btw, is it just me, or does anyone else reckon Noah Taylor is the doppelganger of Nick Cave, in the same way that Al Pacino is the doppleganger of Bruce Springsteen; and Jack Nicholson to Neil Young, etc. ...) -
Late at night ... I park my car.. Stake my claim at the singles bar
It's criminal that I didn't realise how 'cool as fuck' that song was when I was a kid. No snare on the snare drum, cool bass line, cowbell in the chorus, awesome smarmy singing, tight musicianship, nice rhythm guitar... it's the drug for me
