I had to read The Day of the Triffids in primary school. Great book.

Yep, one of the few books I had to read for school that I actually ended up really liking.

Must be time for me to (again) mention Joanna Lumley opening her front door to me wearing only her chemise
Actually had dinner with her once - terrific person.
Was helping out at a Variety Club event for handicapped kids and she was doing the teas and drinks for everyone. There was a meal for all the helpers afterwards and she sat at our table.
We mentioned that one of our group had the serious hots for her but had to miss the meal for another event. She asked for his name and address and he got a thank you card from her a few days later.
Class act.

How old are you geeks. How Space 1999 happened ...
Never saw UFO, but Space 1999 definitely.
There's a vintage TV channel here in the UK and I've been watching a legal drama from the early 70's called The Main Chance. It's really good.

ive been trying to think which thread i should post a recent realisation
cant think what is was but i suddenly thought of this cartoon i watched as a kid, "sky commanders", i remember it being a big deal, loads of toys to buy based on the series the full deal...looked it up, one series of 13 episode, tiny legacy online. Its weird how we remember these things so much bigger than they actually were

Less choice back in the day. So shows that made it on the telly were huge

I don't remember that one. I did hunt for years for info about the Galaxy Rangers and half believed I dreamed it. Then I found the Toy Galaxy Youtube channel which discussed it and then a week later Mark Bernadin on the Fatman Beyond podcast mentioned it.
Here's their Sky Commanders episode:

Thundercats was great. Used to be on What Now on Saturdays
I remember on wet mornings listening to the radio for rugby cancellation, and then being annoyed when it was cancelled, but then being happy that I could watch Thundercats and What Now. I also used to like Dungeons and Dragons.

Even earlier in childhood the big highlight was listening to the kids programme on 2ZB. Simple times
