  • Argentina have lost their last nine test matches.

  • @Tim So? Playing in tougher competition than France IMO building up to the WC. It will really depend on what type of French team turns up.

  • @Canes4life Ireland 28 17 Argentina Lansdowne Road 10 Nov 2018 Details

    France 28 13 Argentina Lille 17 Nov 2018 Details

    Scotland 14 9 Argentina Murrayfield 24 Nov 2018 Details

  • @Tim history means nothing at World Cups. Argentina have the players to make the Semis IMO, whether they do is another question. These games will be won by small margins and I have a gut feeling the Argies will make it out of their pool over France.

  • Unless a completely different Argentina turn up, they'll be vying with Ireland for the choke award.

You win the cliché competition in any case...

  • How pissed would World Rugby be with a repeat of the 2015 final. Unlikely but I can still see Aus upsetting SA in a one-off.

If there is any way to have all the TRC teams in the final 4, let's do it!

  • What did we lead with in 2011? NZ vs Tonga? I imagine this will be a little more competitive than that. Getting a W on the board is important too, especially with no-doubt a large number of seats probably being filled by folk who don't watch rugby and think this would be a mighty victory.

This is the chance for one of the tournament favourites to play down a market against a fellow favourite. It doesn't get any bigger than this, I can't decide if I prefer us to have an easy game first, but its irrelevant now

    Please not again

  • @ACT-Crusader
I understand why you wouldn't want it, but a strong RC is good for NZ. Results are our biggest bargaining chip when you compare the money available up north.

England have Argentina then France as their last pool games, followed by Australia or Wales in the 1/4s. That's a tough run before/if they even get to the semis.

  • @Chris-B I’m a little nervous about this first up game.up until last year I have always felt we have had an edge over the Boks , but there’s just something different about them at the minute in the way that they are coached and also the way they are playing the game with a bit more flair not to mention you just they don’t fear us.sense theirs a ton of confidence in their camp..would feel a whole lot better if Brodie had been fit..just want to get it started already.

  • @Steven-Harris we have to prepare ourselves for the prospect that brody won't be back

  • @canefan very much so..whats your thought on tomorrow’s game..?

  • All Blacks v Wallabies Final.

Draw at Full Time and Extra Time.

All Blacks win due to higher Points differential

  • @mofitzy_ said in World Cup Predicitions:

I might be wrong , but I think aus just may be the most underrated team here , particularly by the NH

I also can see them being right in it at the pointy end.

  • Depth of a paddling pool and shouldn't go all the way but history is full of examples of relatively poor teams taking home the prize - especially in a knock-out comp.

Look at the 07 Final FFS

  • @kiwiinmelb
I think the Wallabies have a better chance than Wales of making the final. Not a lot between them though, on paper anyway.

Can mods fix the spelling in the thread title?

It would be justice if it were England

The Wales v aus game I see about as close to 50 50 as you can get ,

But when people are talking about their favourites for the tournament , Wales gets mentioned a lot , but aus not so much,

A little bit of nervous energy is never a bad thing. You know you’re alive 😀

Whilst I don’t think it has too much bearing on what happens on the field, but if we do lose I hope the AB fans don’t go into meltdown. I think I can confidently say that if the Boks lose, their supporters won’t. It’s not the end and it certainly won’t derail things. We should all know that they we still very much in it.

DUAL PIVOTS WAS NEVER GOING TO WORK!
WHERE ON THIS PLANET DID IT BECOME OK TO PLAY TWO OPENSIDES?
WHAT IS RED BARRETT EVEN DOING IN THE TEAM?
WHY IS THE BEST FULLBACK SITTING ON THE BENCH??
ROOKIE WINGS WAS NEVER GOING TO WORK IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!

  • @Steven-Harris said in World Cup Predictions:

@canefan very much so..whats your thought on tomorrow’s game..?

We have the team to beat them. I thought we were wasteful and far too open in Wellington and should have beaten them easily. They hung on and snatched the draw off a handling error or turnover IIRC? If we play more direct and our physicality is there, if we don't shell all our passes we should win the game. I expect us to win

  • @Steven-Harris And very rightly - they could easily have beaten us 2-0 last year. Though in fairness, each team won the game they probably shouldn't have.

They're fielding something pretty close to the team that played the second test of that series, while we've made some significant changes - so in some ways they've got the advantage of a more settled team.

I don't have a good memory for how they played last year, but I think Hansen should be looking very closely at those games (especially game 2) for the blueprint of how they'll go about this one. I suspect they might have kept the ball in hand.

Mainly, though, I'm thinking/hoping that Hansen has timed our run right with the dual playmakers and we're going to see it come to full fruition. At some point soon, Mo'unga is going to have his international "arrival" and there will be bunch of overseas journos shaking their heads at how we've pulled another diamond from our ass, so to speak. 🙂 Just hope it's during this tournament!

Beating Wales and scoring the most tries.

He should just ask, the Japanese are very polite and will show him the way.

All good excuses though as to why coaches are morans (and we aren't) - unless we win, then it's all good.

  • Some dude was on RS yesterday moaning about SBW, can't decide what sport he wants to do, rugby, league, boxing and only for the money...

When was he last in league, when did he last box, how much more could he earn off shore?

Such a polarizing fella, yet you only hear good things about him from those that work with him.
