Plans for Saturday

  • No, i don't mean how Shag plans to deal with a rush defense and endless recycling, i mean important stuff.

Where are you watching? What's the plan for a ripping saturday of rugby?

It's a cracking day, with the Everest rolling in to the Caulfield Cup (or the other way around) then in to Aus v England and then us. That's me sorted from mid-afternoon, and the type of day i designed my patio around.

In all honesty i am not even sure i will invite anyone around, i'll sit on the couch outside, in front of the TV, start cracking beers from about 1pm. Curse my inability to find a winner. Switch to the rugby after the big races. Steak on teh BBQ between games, feeling loose and slightly toasted by our game.

    Bliss.

  • Probably going to a mate's place to watch on the big screen. Dont know if I want to watch alone

  • Heading over to Manly for the two RWC games to watch with my mate - we were flatting together for the 2015 RWC in Manly so hopefully that success will continue. I assume he'll throw some meat on the BBQ. I don't drink when I watch big matches because I hate not being 100% for them.

Will watch the Magpies game at home before heading over the bridge.

  • I got offered a ticket, but it’s going with a work friend who isn’t a kiwi, and might be supporting Ireland.

There’s a strong chance I may punch them in the face if we lose.

    Should I go anyway?

Any opportunity to punch an Irish supporter!

    absolutely! instant catharsis

Means no matter what happens, you'll feel okay on Sunday

Hell yeah you have to go, it's win-win, win and all's gravy and lose and you get to punch an Irish supporter in the face (and they wouldn't invite you if they weren't prepared for that outcome).

  • Haven't planned it out yet, but will hopefully go for a ride. Do some odd jobs around the house and then settle in.

I haven't planned anything for Sunday just in case - no one would want to be around me then.

  • I am mindful of the last time Aus v England and then the AB game in the quarters were one after the other...

At least this time i won't have to miss most of the first half of the first game because a bunch of fat yobs just have to watch Man U labour to a 1-0 over someone rubbish.

Fuck those guys by the way, i hope they love where their club is at now. piston wristed gibbons.

  • I am playing golf at Kauri Cliffs and then out to dinner at a restaurant called "Charlottes Place" and then where ever we all land to watch the games

Take a lot of golf balls.

Will also be in Manly, but at my mates little pub - 6pm with the whole fam for dinner to watch England v Aus, the oldest lad staying on for the big dance.

I certainly do drink during games, but I'll watch the replay the next day sober to see what I missed, and where I made a fool of myself by ranting about something that didn't actually happen.

This will be me for the semi's, though with the kid - I typically prefer to watch games at home, and don't mind at all being alone. Like the beers to be close, steak coked how I like it, and being able to watch a replay of something at HT if I want

i love my kids, but they ask too many questions to be allowed to watch tense games with me. I am a terrible father...

i had the best fun when we lost in Perth. I was pissed to bits and got real ranty, it was awesome.

Just jinx myself, this is the second time I have played it and the first time I got round with only losing 3.

That makes you an excellent father.

I had the whole family around for the final in 2011. My niece kept talking....she now rarely talks to me at all. I think it was "would you STFU" that did it. It was also not during the match but Richie receiving Bill.

You're a good uncle. All you did is set her up to be a better wife in future.

    😂 😂

the 2011 cricket world cup semi final was not my best moment.

I have attempted to do away with the swearing and yelling. But my line now is "i watch a lot of meaningless games, you could easily watch and learn with me then. Now is not the fucking time"

She's getting married in Feb next year and I have actually been invited. I checked that there was no rugby on that I needed to watch before sending an RSVP.

  • Watching from an illegal stream in a 2nd world country (but the quality will still be better than Spark Sport).

    That's the damn Groom's responsibility!!!

When I got married, I made sure there were no Rugby or Cricket tests on!

    I'm now happily divorced....

fuck off, some of us aren't useless...

We were playing France. In June. In a World Cup year, the result was a foregone conclusion...

  • @mariner4life That is just poor planning. I moved our wedding as realised that it was going to clash with the 2003 RWC. I didn't even go to it in the end (thankfully) but I needed to set a precedent.

  • @Snowy said in Plans for Saturday:

I didn't even go to it in the end

shit, that's a tough way to break up with someone

  • @mariner4life Well the rugby was on...you make choices...

  • Got a fund raiser disco, starting at 7. So I'll be helping set up, dressing up in my best 70s gear to get the ball rolling, taking tickets at the door, then poking off back home to watch from 8. I'm turning down free McLeods beer and disco dancing for this - better be bloody good games and results

  • @Snowy said in Plans for Saturday:

    FOUR MORE YEARS!!

What pub does he own/run? Not that I'd go there to watch and stalk you 😉 as I hate watching rugby at pubs. Just for future reference for my Manly mates.

  • @Snowy haha no, both little, er, angels were born in the early hours, so was just a long night for me...oh, and the wife, she done good!

  • @taniwharugby If she "done good" I assume that she watched the ABs as well?

Being in labour is no excuse.

  • @Snowy oh no, she's English, she didnt care about us playing SA or Samoa, doesnt even care when we play England.

I just told her to get on with it...at fulltime!

He is a part owner of Hawkebury Brewing Company. Make beer, RTD's, wine now. They have a little pub on Belgrave St, showing all the RWC games.

    All welcome!
