BOP Eruption?

A current affairs weblog I read over here includes a brief but accurate context:
"Aussies are again calling for Jacinda Ardern to be the country’s leader after her “classy” response to the White Island volcano disaster."
"Name them."
"River, Tanisha, Beau, Bo, Corey, Cory, Skye, Sky and D’kara ..."A crowd of ostensibly mature and aware adults go wandering about a place where nature is very likely to fry them and, when it does, there is a mad scramble to drag out someone to blame for their stupidity. The First Lady, in her role as Minister for Lovely but Over-familiar, canters out for an exhibition run to paw and cuddle carefully selected random strangers. Instantly the fact of senior Labor officials having their way with junior Labor office girls falls back to page 12 of the NZ Herald and stays there.
In 2019 "honorable" is defined by whatever one can get away with - this sheila is a quick learner alright.

@Mick-Gold-Coast-QLD the boot on the other footness of the victims families blaming the government for their loved ones deaths after 10 years of Pike river is some nice karma .

@jegga said in BOP Eruption?:
I feel your pain .They probably do it specifically to annoy you, the same way TVNZ deliberately put Anika Moa on the pre match coverage of the rwc to fuck me off .
Can confirm. Have strong sauce from the meeting where TVNZ made that call and name checked @jegga. It's legit.

Interesting when the boot is on the other foot aye? I know Stuart Nash says it's unfair to compare this situation to Pike River, but is it really? There is risk associated with a recovery mission but at least they can see whats in front of them. It's a bit harder to make broad sweeping statements about not leaving people behind when you have to wear your big boy pants

@canefan quite a few "probably's" in his comments. I get that he thinks he can do it and it'll be sweet. But what if it isn't? who gets shit canned then? Him? whoever approved him taking the risk?
Just like the miners know all about mining.....
-
@Snowy hope that is the case also. My earlier point was more that it sounded like he was confident he could do it, but threw out quite a few qualifiers which made me wonder if his risk tolerance may be higher than some/many of his peers.
-
@Paekakboyz in the current H & S environment, there will be zero risks taken from here.

Interesting hearing one of the pilots on RNZ this afternoon, early on they got the call no responders were going to the island which is why these pilots did what they did. Sounds ridiculous they weren’t going to act, what’s the point of being a first responder if your not going to respond?

Given the temperatures the past couple days surely they wouldn’t want to leave those bodies out there too long, a horrible job will become much worse.
Yep I really feel for Police, Contractors that have this job, I had to attend a number of ugly suicides in my time and its never pretty.

First priority is not to put yourself in danger. And can end up with more people to rescue.
