The pain continues for the black craps. India will play a month's worth of short form cricket before the test matches. Time to get used to the conditions

All the same, I can't wait!
Put a line under the Aussie series and carry on. We have a really good cricket team!!
Results aside this is easily the best summer of Cricket in a looooong time. England, Aus and India.
Fantastic

Main thing we need is Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry to make quick recoveries.
That's all of our Cricket World Cup seam attack broken right now!
On the plus side, Blundell surely becomes an option to open (along with Guppy and Nicholls) and Munro moves towards the sidelines.

Yeah we still do when they are fit and healthy, we can put together a good side in our conditions. Fast bouncy pitches, add in at night...not so much.
I'm not brave enough to say "bring on India" but am looking forward to it.

Blundell has to be in the frame for all teams now. And Wags can play short forms if he wants to. The guy has developed enough variety and can perform well on batter friendly decks. I'm still shocked that he has never played for the craps in either of the short games

the last thing that guy needs is to bowl more overs

I don't know if he wants to play some short form stuff though. The guy seems as tough as teak and thrives on a solid workload

So, what do we conclude about our spinners for the tests vs India?
Santner? Astle? Somerville? Ajaz? Ish? Play four seamers plus CdG?
-
Technically spinners move the ball.
Has the team become complacent through their efforts to be nice? Very few showed any fight in this test series. A real fizzer on this side of the trench.
-
@Chris-B hopefully they finally realize a spinner is probably a waste of time in NZ and play four seamers. If not I would like to think Astle has overtaken Santner as the batting spinner.
If they really want to play a spinner that can bat they may as well play Ravindra, better batsmen than any other spinning options and none of them likely to take wickets in NZ anyway.

A shame Kane won't bowl himself a bit more. Last series aside, he is both a better batting option and spinning option in terms of getting turn.
-
Kane had the potential to be our number one spinner in most conditions and the number two in spin friendly conditions. I've never really understood why he didn't go down that path. Did he want to focus on his batting? Was it a workload thing? Is it a humility thing (doesn't rate his bowling so doesn't bowl himself)? Is it a fear of chucking?
-
@Cyclops All good questions that I can't answer, but would like to know.

I reckon it's a humility thing. He really should have bowled a lot more overs than he has.

The worst was the England test in Auckland about 6 years ago where they batted a day and a half to save the game. Bruce Martin had been bowling ineffectively all day, and Kane only got the ball in the final hour, and promptly took two wickets to get them 9 down, only for Monty Panesar and Matt Prior to see off the final few overs. I'd been crying out for Kane to bowl since the middle of the second session.

I reckon it’s a workload thing. Still our key batsman, captaining and all that.
I wish he bowled more, maybe be like Border who didn’t bowl in every test match, but when conditions or situation favoured he put in a goodish sized spell.

I think humility because of chucking. Just a hunch but he's in the cross hairs for chucking and a decent haul in an innings could see the whole merry go round start up again.
His action is still a bit suss, by the current standards

Can't believe how quickly the first T20 is after the last ODI v Aussie last night.
Friday night kick-off. Two games over the long weekend at Eden park. Amongst. I will be in Auckland too so may pop along.

Not sure. Will decide on the day. Danica has one running so may pop along. Are you going to the races or the cricket (or the sales for that matter)

We're smacking it round but we'll need every single run, this is a batting paradise.
-
@No-Quarter Yeah - but lets never go to fucking Australia again!

CDG with a shot like he’s still playing there.
-
@Donsteppa Way to capitalise on the platform Colin!
-
Colin scores 59 off 42 and the other Colin 0 off 2 - but not the way round you'd expect...

Side note for anyone at home without Sky, it's on Prime.

Seifert out with a whimper. Question, after his aussie heroics, why the fark is Blundell not playing?
-
Blundell is not a highly regarded t20 player, Phillips would be next in line for the t20 keeping spot.
-
Bumrah rolls his ankle on the edge of the drop in pitch. Didn't look good but he's going to try and run it off
-
50 for Rosscoe to finish, he and Kane did very well.
-
Indians are going hard out early. They look like they are trying to keep a late dinner reservation

Headless fielding ruins a runout.
-
@canefan helped by some inconsistent bowling. Who's the bowling coach right now?
