@Donsteppa think Ryman who have villages all over had advised contractors last week they would be doing this too.

Someone just got deported right now due to not self isolating, they are doing random checks
Outstanding, this needs to happen, if only to send a clear message.

Groups of 500 okay. Why's that? They are saying no events or gatherings of more than 500. Which pretty much means no big events.
We would have 100 people at golf on a good Saturday and we aren't cancelling anything like that.
@taniwharugby It's nice to see that it's not growing exponentially like it did at first in Korea and has done in Spain/Italy. I remember someone mentioning in an earlier that that those countries kind of took one for the team. Maybe that is proving correct?

just had a further 3 cases
Foreseen. What I don't want to see is drastically increasing numbers of new cases

So Welly had cancelled it's rugby, all netball is off
Everyone else basically has to follow suit

I suspect we don't have enough tests to go around
Isolation is the next best thing. The mum is being a little bit histrionic, but obviously it would be nice to know that the tests will be more readily available soon. It makes containment strategies even more important

Given some of the stories about how hard it has been to get tested, I wonder how much of an undercount our figures might be.

And the stories about how loose our border control has been

Well if you don’t test then the confirmed cases won’t grow I guess.

In going from 600 tests in total as of this morning, to potentially 1500 per day later this week, I wonder whether testing has been tightly rationed to some extent so far. Korea seems to have had one of the most successful approaches so far - test extensively and isolate accordingly.

I can’t see how you can stop the spread without knowing where it is. All feels like action after the horse has bolted, all this action should have been done at least a week ago.
