@canefan fingers crossed. We jumped on a bunch of air NZ shares as well.
That canny Rhodes scholar David Kirk apparently got into Kathmandu in a big way. Briscoes group and ANZ hold significant stakes. They shed about 70% value from their pre-covid price. A bargain if ever I saw one

This lockdown started in the middle of March.
not to be a pedant, but lockdown was from midnight 25 March...they announced on Moday the 23rd of the impednign lockdown, giving businesses a few days to prepare then, so I expect they will do so the other way, again.
The first travel restrictions came in 15/03 i think and the next 'stricter' ones 19/03
Agree there has been lack of clarity around alot of stuff though, leaving too much open for interpretation.
Bloody pedant

@voodoo they have been talking to industry groups including within aviation. It's all conjecture anyway. Travel may still be restricted and I'll be out of pocket. As an aside there weren't accommodation bargains to be had which surprised me. Prices were standard pre COVID.
I took a punt on a parcel of Air NZ shares this week so bring it on I say!
We negotiated direct with owners of accom they were all prepared to offer significant discounts. My mates place in QT has exactly 2 bookings for winter right now, 1 for June, the other for Sep. And June will probably cancel.
But I had a similar experience to you looking at hotels to stay at last week in the south. Cheapest on offer in Lake Tekapo was $350!

Considering there’s never been a precedent for this before in our history I think we have handled this pretty well.
Think I’d rather be living in NZ then Spain or Italy or the US or the UK or France or Iran or Germany or......
Sure. But we were NEVER going to be any of those places for multiple reasons. And even if you cpuldnt be 100% sure of that at the start, it was completely clear 3 weeks ago.

1 confirmed case, family transmission from prior confirmed case.

Pretty happy with L2 conditions - so happy in fact that I reckon there is no way it happens next week!
I'm picking they steal another weekend from us and move Monday week.
I think that's a possibility given the pedestrian systemic response by the Ministry of Health (contract tracing systems etc).
But if we've still having 0, 1, and 2 cases per day by Monday, delaying Level 2 further than their 48 hours notice will be political harikari.

I listened to it.
Jacinda said 'here's L2 stuff, but we may not go all at once'. That sounded like you may get some, but not all on Monday.

@voodoo I think she meant leaving Palmy in L3 while the rest of the country moved to L2

Dammit! I missed that. If that is the case then there is next to no chance of Matamata going to L2 straight away

Your best post ever.
It should stay at Level 4 permanently. You can catch venereal diseases in Palmy just by getting out of the car and breathing.

You have a strange notion of what constitutes oral sex.
