@Wairau TBH, aside from the ABs and Japan I'd rather the Boks win.
-
@Nepia Ha, yes, I think you are right.
I sent the following to a SA friend, some fantastic rugby.

@Daffy-Jaffy I like how Howlett was worried that Ralph wouldn't be quick enough to get the ball so ran him and the English defenders down to score the try.
-
@Nepia Ralph woulda got there if Dougie wasnt offside

Camera angle man, and he got checked going through.
Sometimes forget how good Mils was as a running fullback back in those days.

I just do (early on-set dementia?), maybe because I compare him with the gold standard
Rangi(I'm not @Chris-B) Cullen, and remember him as the solid all round fullback he was more than the attacking dynamo. -

Great runner, really good at bringing his wingers in to the game. He's the man. One of my favourite ABs of the past 20 years (probably 2nd behind Kaino)

I'd probably go Cullen, Kipper, Mils of the ones I've seen.
Agree with you on Kaino for favourite AB of the last 20 years.

And beautifully soft, fast hands. The amount of tries he was the last one to put someone away.

So reliable too, at both ends. Barely made mistakes. And that Franck Bunce temperament.

Kipper can't compete with Cullen in terms of sheer brilliance (despite being quite brilliant himself) or with Mils in terms of longevity

Yep, it was like having another play maker out the back, together with the pace of winger and the usual hallmarks of a top notch fullback

@Tim before soccer mums got involved in the sport
-
@Daffy-Jaffy faaaaark yes. I could watch that angle from Cully against the Boks all day.
-
@Tim love that one early, but puts hands in ruck, gets the rewards...

Yeah, and that's why he's second, and I don't generally have longevity as one of my key metrics when picking my favourite/best players.

Such a differnet game back then. Would love to have the space in the calendar to play a Probables Possibles game in a regional stadium.

@mikedogz Lolani Koko! Awesome.

@mikedogz Cheers for posting that, I was at that game ... the girls we were with (from the local Catholic school) wouldn't shut up about how hot Marc Ellis was.

I hope you enjoyed a bit of second hand success on the back of it?
