UFOs

  • Just been gawping out the back, seen a few zigzaggy tiny lights out there in the night sky and most likely a satellite... Or the peroxide from my blonde is now in my blood stream...

Got me thinking, there are a few military / pilot/ traveller types, not to mention a good spread of people from all over the world here, what have you seen and what are your thoughts on what's out there? Are we talking aliens or military aircraft?

Sorry if there is another thread couldn't find it.

  • Lol where the hell did I post this it's just been moved! Blonde it is...

    It was under 'Sport'

That's default if you don't pick anything

  • I dunno know about UFO but I was reading a totally different thread my screen flickered and it took me here

    nanananananana They're Out There

  • @Duluth Uh god no, would never dream of posting in there intentionally. Thanks for the clean up.

  • Have to assume we aren’t alone in the Universe, don’t want to get all Mulder tho. There have been some pretty amazing reports over the years and compelling evidence.
Have to do a search but there’s a famous case involving Air New Zealand pilots getting freaked out during a flight back in the 70s or 80s. Think they were flying over the South Island?

  • They certainly exist. Zero doubt we aren’t the only life out there.

Major doubts they found us tho.

  • Fingers crossed when they finally show themselves they are hot alien females, like the ones we were asked about getting with in that Politics quiz.

  • There’s plenty out there. At least there was a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

    Stop right now

    That’s in the future

  • @MajorRage I'm not so certain there's intelligent life on earth let alone elsewhere

Listening to Infinite Monkey Cage over the years it seems that you can make a compelling case for just about anything from multiverses teeming with life through to we are alone. It seems the most popular notion is though that contact is unlikely under the laws of physics as we know them because distances are too vast.

  • @dogmeat only if you assume the life out there is as we know it too ...

  • @MajorRage there's life Jim, but not as we know it!

I'd agree with this, makes me feel safer, I've watched too many Sci fi films (not the ones I probably should have according to you lot) and I'd hate to have reptilian like baddies zapping us, if it's going to happen of all years it will be 2020.

But why the supposed hidden evidence and cover ups etc that have supposedly happened,I'd always assume we would never know there's been a close contact until it'd be too late and it's all zap zap probe probe time.

What has been covered up and why?

  • @R-L said in UFOs:

You say it like it's a bad thing

  • @dogmeat you can go first then

  • @R-L Age before beauty huh.

Yes most likely satellite, although they don't zigzag as a rule - so that is peroxide or gin.

Did see a very odd shape sort of "hanging" in the sky over Alaska. All the crew saw it, so it wasn't the drugs. It was also very adjacent to Elmendorf AFB so probably military. Maybe a met balloon.

I worked with Bob Guard, one of the guys that was flying for Safe air in 1978 when this happened:
    1970s
    Main article: Kaikoura lights
The 21 December 1978 incident in the Kaikoura area attracted media attention throughout New Zealand and Australia. The crew of a cargo plane reported strange lights over the Kaikoura Ranges and a Wellington radar team reported inexplicable readings. these were filmed by a news crew over several nights.

    Actual article here:

He wished that he had never said anything.

    Cheers for finding that @Snowy

  • @Virgil Safe Air over Kaikoura. See my post. Even had the RNZAF investigate.

I’ve read about it a few times over the years. Definitely NZ’s biggest contribution to the world of UFO conspiracies.
Trouble is for every compelling case like that are crackpots and fake reports where someone throws a pot lid into the sky and takes a picture of it.

  • @Snowy said in UFOs:

so that is peroxide or gin.

    Nil Gin. 😔

Love it, can't imagine what that must have been like to see, not sure I'd tell people. Who am I kidding I'd be straight on here..

Two women in our office said they'd seen a small figure hobble across a motorway one night covered in something like a blanket, sounded like ET the way they described it, had a large bulbous forehead and had to slow down as it got to the other side of the motorway and disappeared into bushes. One got really pissed off with the other one for telling us, which made it seem even more genuine. They definitely saw something that they were convinced wasn't human and were embarrassed to talk about it.

  • I find the concept that we are alone in this massive universe hard to grasp.

Sounds like a local on the way home from the pub.

  • @Crucial funnily enough the spot where they described it isn't far from a field the circus often set up in once a year... Alas the circus were not in town so carny folk out the equation...
    alt text
    Hate the circus.

  • My advice is that if you see this guy shoot first

  • speaking of pubs - my brother and I walked out of my Ealing local decades ago and saw strange lights in the sky, hovering and then shooting off into the distance really fast. Way faster than a plane.

This was not a case of the booze. We definitely saw what we saw.

Unfortunately, once we realised that there was a concert on at Wembley, we also realised - they weren't U, they weren't F, or indeed O.

So let down were we, we simply had to go back for another ale to cleanse our disappointment

  • @Crucial nice eyes he's cute

  • @dogmeat wow top reasoning smarts whilst drunk, am impressed.

God don’t star another Star Wars debate

  • @Crucial he's the sort of alien guy those politics quizes ask about and yes I would... Ha

Seriously should I know who that is?

  • @Virgil oh ffs

It was too much to hope star wars wouldn't keep coming up in a UFO topic, or any topic for that matter.

  • we are in a simulation anyways so why not aliens I reckon!

Read that as stimulation, I'm officially turning into you lot.

  • @Crucial he's on my hawt radar now anyway so thanks... 😉

  • As an aside, as a 17 year old, me and 3 of my mates saw something in the sky we could not identify.

Was late one night (we hadnt been drinking or doing drugs) and one of my mates noticed a very light green light in the eastern sky, didnt have a telecope, but had binocs, and it was ovalish, it slowly moved from north to south for about half an hour. Then is changed direction slightly, accelerated and then it was gone.
