That is very cool, easily our best ever new ball pairing.
100%.....our 3rd and 4th seamers make it the closest we’ve ever had to a mid 80s style West Indies attack as well. As if to prove a point Boult has made sure he gets the first two wickets to get himself on the board too !
Francis Payne also tweeted this is the first time Boult has not picked up a first innings wicket in a test.
Useless Plonker
On the slide. Clearly. Had a good career but obviously coming to an end.
Do we need 4 quicks, or should we make do with 3 and pick another batsman? Doug Bracewell's name has been mentioned on the Fern as a possible replacement.
Despite not scoring a ton or even 50 at test level he’s an all rounder. I’m sure a huge score is just round the corner. See ya Trent.

The other name that has been bandied about on the Fern is Jessie Ryder.
Perhaps Ryder as the batting allrounder is the way to go to replace Boult.

Anyone understand why we seem to think that players have to come in via T20 and ODI? If any team was perfect for Conway to settle into test cricket with it is these Windies.

I don't understand why Conway is in the squad if there wasn't an intention to play him anyway. If he wasn't in their first XI and Will Young was ranked higher than him by the selectors (and they expected BJ back and Kane to be available too) then what is the point of having him there just to run drinks?
Conway will not play a game for the first half of December when he could have been playing in the two NZ A games.
-
Conway was only called into the test squad when Kane left. Young is a massive talent (his first class numbers are almost identical) and I have no problem with him getting picked ahead of Conway. It's a good problem to have.

Conway was meant to play in both 'A' games. But Watling injury in Hamilton and Kane absence from Wellington meant he got drafted into the test squad each time and missed the matches.
I personally think it was poor logistics to not manage getting him from Hamilton to Mt Maunganui on morning of first test after the eleven selected. But, with concussion subs, maybe 11 plus 12th man is not a thing anymore?

Makes no sense, that is still 4 quicks.

Will Young hasn't.
-
The Windies might scrape through and make NZ bat again but this will still be an absolute hiding.....again.
Gosh I hope the other teams touring make things a bit more interesting than this rabble.
Pleased for Nicholls, that ton is about as timely and necessary as you could possibly get with Young and Conway breathing down his neck. These selectors are loyal though and he rewarded them ( however lucky it may have been )

I did not say that you were supportive of the move. I couldn't imagine anyone being supportive of the move unless there are injuries.

Fuck off drizzle. There’s a test to wrap up
-
Ok, there's a bit of blue between the cloud patches. As you all were.
-
Looks like it started early.
Holder gone, I think the BCs will be genuinely disappointed if they let the Windies off the hook and actually have to bat again. 77 needed for this to happen and some real bunnies to bat.
-
Joseph has decided to have a game of 20/20. 14 off seven balls, hopefully he skies one soon.
-
and he's gone. Two more to get.
Fucks sake, do I have to carry this thread on my own ? sort it out fellas, don't make out you're busy with "work".
-
Black Caps doing their best to make sure subscribers never get their 5 days of test cricket per match for their Spark Sport subscription
-
Black Caps continuing business as usual with poor DRS review and non-review choices...

All over Wags get the last wicket and NZ win by innings and 12

Top of the world!!! How awesome is that!!
-
.......and we're done.
Good shit BCs. Two innings wins in a row and correct me if I'm wrong but this puts us in the rarified air of being the number one rated test side in the world ! Wonderful stuff. What a shame the All Blacks have shit the bed in the last couple of years........a double would have been nice.
As someone said earlier anything less than two comfortable wins against this rabble wouldn't have been a success so good on them for never taking the foot off the pedal and hammering them. Rather unbelievable for our sketchy history we seem to have a 4th bowler at least as good and with the potential to be better than Southee, Boult and Wagner. Nicholls got huge runs when needed after KW was out and Rossco failed. A guy as good as Conway may have to wait a bit to get a chance.
This is just a terrific test team fellas, enjy while it lasts. I don't see any reason why we can't beat all comers this home summer.

Bloody awesome, something we should lap up while we can.
Wait for the naysayers to arrive though....but Australia this, but India that....
But nothing. BCs are equal number one ranked side in Test Cricket right now!
-
Best NZ attack ever
Best middle order
One of best ever openers
Wicketkeeper in conversation for best ever
KJ could develop into a genuine all rounder giving us plenty of options. How good is it to be a Black Caps supporter right now.

Suck on that, specifically Australia, India and England.
-
Also now lead Windies in head to head test results
-
Fuck that's a reaming. Two tests batting once each is a helluva win.
-
I'm happy we're ranked number 1, but a bit miffed we have to carry on like Aussies
-

Jamieson player of the series, Nicholls player of the match, Kane #1 run scorer despite only batting once.
-
We have won 4 tests this year. It took us 38 years (until 1968) to record our 4th ever test victory. At the 81st attempt!
So yeah I don't really think we are the best test side in the world - but WTF!!! It'll more than do.

We don't quite have a Paddles or Bond......but there's also no Chatfield, Snedden, Morrison, Martin or other honest trier, these four are all fucken weapons in their own right. Jamieson is in danger of being my favourite current BC and his first class numbers indicate that potential all rounder status is more than justified.
For keeping it's Watling, BMac then a massive drop........I remember Smithy being fucken sharp behind the stumps but his hit or miss batting means he's not really in the converstation.
