Your favourite conspiracy theories

  • Lets keep the weirdness to one thread. Apparently people fall for these because they get some sense of belonging when they sign up to them and other supporters usually welcome them with open arms because if someone else buys into their particular brand of bullshit they feel more secure in their weird ideas.

David Icke was a personal favourite, although he was proven right he said he for years that the bbc had a number of celebrities who were pedophiles and were protected by the establishment. The juries still out on whether or not he was right about the world being run by shape shifting reptilian aliens that live under the north pole. http://www.davidicke.com/

A more recent favourite is the idea that the planes used on 9/11 were actually holograms. https://followingworldchange.wordpress.com/2014/06/21/911-planes-were-holographic-projections/

Anyone got another others they want to share?

'The Titanic never sank'. i.e. why I'm so cynical about all conspiracy theories. People believe that what shouldn't happen, couldn't happen.

And then invent all sorts of complicated nonsense to justify themselves. .

Not exactly the same one, but a very similar conspiracy theory tracking same territory is the September Clues theory that posits the whole thing was an elaborate coordinated media psy-op hoax where no planes were hijacked nor flew into buildings, and says that what live witnesses observed were missiles, or more likely that these "witnesses" were in-fact government agents and co-conspirators, and that what TV audiences saw was basically Photoshop. It's crazy-crazy stuff, but the detailed photo analyses will get your head spinning like the David Hemmings character in "Blow Up." Batshit insane, yet hypnotic and entrancing.

  • I quite like the one suggesting that the Anglin brothers survived the Escape from Alcatraz in 1962. A photo was unearthed recently of them taken in the 1970s in South America. Writing this on a tablet so can't link a story.......
All things considered does anyone reckon they lived ? I think it's not impossible however unlikely. Having been to Alcatraz I can confirm it is a fucken chilling place, going there on a misty day sure helped add to the atmosphere.

  • It's possible I guess, get the tides right and have a bit of luck and they probably could gave got away .
Didn't RFK shut it down ? His brothers murder is a conspiracy hotbed , I reckon the truth is way more boring and Oswald probably did it.

  • Is that a conspiracy or just a WTF happened? (Alcatraz escape).

Whats the definition of conspiracy for the purpose of this thread Jegga?

Wasn't there a theory that the "bombers" were actually framed and it was really a CIA plot to justify Bush opening a can of whoopass on Iraq and Afghanistan in order to award infrastructure contracts to Halliburton and a bunch of other shadow companies?

I actually spent a bit of time going over the 9/11 crack pot theories visiting their websites etc. And to be honest some of the inconsistencies and shit they brought up wasn't all that crack pot batshit crazy

I think they shut it down cos it was more than three times as expensive per head as any other prison in America. I'm no great swimmer but having a look at the distance I'd back myself to make it. Of course this is not taking into account the Sharks, freezing cold ( even in summer when they did it ) and the currents which are apparently very tough to negotiate.

  • Wasn't there a theory that the "bombers" were actually framed...

Many theories. This one is amusing:

  • The last bit about using the incident to further advance the American empire is very believable

I like how in all the debris and rubble they found at least one of the attackers passport...

Are they the ones who made floats out of raincoats ?

  • Are they the ones who made floats out of raincoats ?

Yes, the Clint Eastwood character.from "Escape From Alcatraz" who later became the Sean Connery character from "The Rock." (Funnily enough, the Warden in the Eastwood pic is none other than The Prisoner himself, Patrick McGoohan.) And they didn't float to the closer San Fran bay shoreline but instead went a farther distance to an island in the entirely different direction. (Allegedly.)

Yeah the Alcatraz one probably doesn't qualify, I was thinking more "you think this happened because you are a gullible sheeple, this is what really happened open you eyes( insert batshittery here) .Post your favourite conspiracy theory and we can talk about it .Some of some are flat out insane , most are interesting though. The titanic one is a new one on me .

plenty of stories of people surviving in the water for long periods of time.

however I've changed my thinking on that after watching the vid from yesterday of a great white smashing a seal right next to the boat in alcatraz yesterday!

  • That's them. Fucken awesome plan to be fair, none of them were violent criminals, the Anglins robbed banks using a fake gun apparently but because all were serial escapists they were sent to 'The Rock'.
Frank Morris ( the Eastwood character ) had an IQ in the top 3% but some say that the 4th bloke ( who was a bit wimpy in the film ) was the actual mastermind behind it.
It's very unlikely they did make it, after all they were career criminals and so woulda been almost certain to offend again and get caught.

  • The one I like the most is that the government has made McDonald's successful so that people will eat their food, get fat and be less likely to protest the government.

  • Not sure how to explain this "conspiracy theory"..  essentially this guy is the biggest nut job I've ever come across in NZ.  I'm actually amazed he's not in the looney bin, scariest bit is he's got people following him.

First popped up on my radar when I saw on the news about the bunch of guys that stormed into that office in Auckland and kicked the staff out then tried to claim it back etc.  Made my blood boil and wrongly assumed it was some sort of Maori land claim...  Then my mate who's a cop pointed me in the direction of his youtube channel.. and holy sh*tballs.   :idiot2:

I don't even know how to explain who or what he thinks he is.  Have heard him refer to himself as the king of england, he thinks he owns pretty much 7/8ths of land under the english empire, that the british empire owe him trillions of pounds (that he's getting) and that he's off to put the queen and obama in gallows.

This guy is the best example of crazy I've ever seen.  The saying 'the thing about crazy people is that they don't know they're crazy' couldn't apply to anyone better than this loon.

However I'm secretly impressed by his rambling youtube videos where he talks for an hour - on god knows what but he doesn't pause or have to think about names or places they just seem to flow from within his brain - I have no idea what's going on in there but something ain't wired right!!

not sure what vid to link to they're all as nutty as each other... here's the latest.

  • How about a conspiracy about a conspiracy?

The so-called "Birther "conspiracy" -- where Obama was supposedly not born in the United States, he was instead born in Kenya which would disqualify him as President -- you've probably heard that one.

But did you know that hoax "conspiracy" was actually a false-flag fabricated and stoked by Obama himself to distract from his real Birther conspiracy?

See -- allegedly, so the theory goes cough and this is a doozy -- Obama is an American alright, born & bred in America, but not to that Kenyan father. The alleged father, the goatherder from Kenya, was a stooge, who participated in his role in a cover-up to acquire a Green Card. Barry's real father was an infamous communist pornographer Frank Marshall Davis who was already married with five kids by the time he knocked up Barry's teenage mom, and for good measure, those nude photos of Barry's mum that were sold & published in underground men's magazines, she was a couple months pregnant with Barry when those shots were taken by his father. I'm not saying I believe this stuff, I'm just saying it's one of my more fave recent conspiracy theories and it's at least as believable as most of the WWE programming I watch ("Screwjob," Owen's death, Benoit, etc., which is to say, tiny little bits of it are kinda convincing!).

  • Cover up of people in NZ before Maorihttp://onenzfoundation.co.nz/wordpress/articles/books-and-reviews/proof-of-pre-maori/

I didn't click on that, is it Spanish, Chinese ,Romans or Celts?

  • didn't say, but would guess Celtic with www.celticnz.co.nz linked in it

had a quick look, some interesting/funny stuff

  • I didn't click on that, is it Spanish, Chinese ,Romans or Celts?

It's a load of waffle to back up an aim of removing/ reducing the status of Maori in NZ.

I actually have no problem with the concept of some early visits or short settlements that may predate the accepted migration times but also don't think it reduces the status of Maori. It could change it from 'we were here first' to 'we were here before you'.

There are a number of 'unexplained' early settlement stories in this part of the world, likely from very early under-exposed or failed expeditions. Ships of european origin sailing uncharted (to them) waters and going with the currents and winds seem to have regularly wrecked along the WA coast way before our known european visits. It is hardly beyond belief that some of them made ground as far as NZ and survived for a short period. Long enough to plant trees they had anyway.

It's the aspect of this being covered up for nefarious reasons that cracks me up.

One of the claims is about DoC cutting down numerous very old Oak Trees up north to destroy evidence of pre-dated occupation. Doh, DoC cut them down to re-establish native trees and if the stumps are still there on public land, take a walk and count the growth rings dumb asses.

The photos on the page won't appear in my browser but they supposedly provide evidence of Oak Trees that are bigger than expected. Given that some varieties of Oak are very fast growing and that Oaks thrive in well drained acid soil (ie volcanic) and that theory gets shot down fast. I have seen these claims years ago and they drew my interest because of a connection. The trees they refer to around Drury were actually planted by the Runciman family. Capt James Runciman of that family also planted many of the trees that have grown so big in Cambridge as the town was established from being a fort.
We had a number of oaks on the farm grown from the same 'stock' and can attest to the speed of growth being quite fast.

I dread to think what would have happened had the Titanic sunk in modern times. That conspiracy theory I posted on page one is relatively small... but imagine if it sank toda -  how well would people accept that just 12 square feet open to the sea could sink a 46,000 ton liner?

(The 300 foot gash myth probably helped the public of the time to accept that what shouldn't happen, could... without creating conspiracies beyond insurance scams and U Boats in the mid-Atlantic in 1912...)

Errr a hundred years is quite a long time for trees to grow large right?

It seems inconceivable that this English Oak, or many more like it around Drury or indeed Waimate in the North, could have grown to such a size in the space of time between Cook’s first visit in 1769 and 1870 when the photo was taken.

  • Don't the giant Redwoods grow something like 5 times quicker in NZ than in California (they tell you this at one of the tourist spots in Rotovegas) however the wood is nowhere near as hard, therefore will never get to the same size.

Think that was mentioned in the another thread earlier, prompting Jegga to start this one.
