If we mixed this thread with the Hawt thread omg we'd likely blow the fern up. You guys are bloody bbq ninjas! loving the mix of old school and tech in terms of gear and cooking approaches. If we ever manage a full on Fern catch up I think we can put a big tick in the catering box!

I'm still fasting but about to engage in some keto cooking. I'll post some pics if it doesn't all come out looking like burnt shit.

I take it keto is not likely to be as tasty as 'kettle' cooking

Very much so. Keto is simply high fat, protein and low carbs. So plenty of meaty goodness and green leafy vegetables.

Do you own a Kettle or Egg etc? If not, go buy one and you will not regret it! I had a fairly new Weber gas BBQ and as soon as I got the Kettle, I sold my gas bbq as knew I wouldn't use it again

I'm looking at grabbing a Webber Kettle, can't fit much more on the balcony.

If budget allows, please also buy the Rotisserie attachment! You will regret nothing!!!

Nothing like cooking a joint of meat in it's own juices. And longer cooking times means more time on the deck with beer in hand trying to look busy

anyone got thoughts on fruit trees?
Get mixed results where I am.
Plums, lemons, grapefruit, lime, feijoas, blue berry all growing like crazy (fruiting too) but peach tree not so good.
Lots of fruit on it, but just doesnt ripen and grown, ends up rotting on tree and falling off.

@taniwharugby cut it down, dry it out and use that shit for smoking

On New World's website they have "Beef Wing Rib Roast" for $24.99/kg. Is that rib eye, sirloin, or something else (like chuck rib roll)?

Looks like it is a sirloin roast with bone in
I personally prefer scotch fillet roast. Generally has more fat marbling which gives it more flavour and moisture

Yup, Sirloin.
Last three weekends in a row, I have done a four bone in Rib-eye (Scotch) smoked for 3 hours until 120f and rested for a few hours until ready to eat and then sear and serve! Every time it has been with a different group of people and every time they say it is the best steak they have ever had.

Reverse sear is the best 👌
